Default Automobile: FX50 vs. X6 Xdrive50i

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...50i/index.html

If the X6's buyers don't take it to the track, then it's left to win buyers on its looks alone. And that doesn't bode well. The FX50 makes more sense to us - with nearly identical performance, five-passenger seating, and a lower price, it clearly will appeal to more buyers. With brakes similar to those on the 900-pound-lighter G37, though, it experiences significant brake fade.

That's but one example of the inevitable. Both of these tall, corpulent trucks look - and perform - like they're from Toontown, but they'll be driven on earth, where the laws of physics apply. With a little electronic sorcery, each vehicle dupes its driver into thinking he's behind the wheel of a sport sedan. But that's an illusion; a cartoon, if you will.

I forgot who it was but I know there was another recent test of the FX 35 vs the X6 35i and the FX won there too.

It might be ugly, but it does look to be a compelling overall package.

In the latest Car and Driver, they run some brake test and there's a pic of the FX50's brakes after a few high speed stops, the rotors were scarred... Doesn't instill much faith in their brake selection. They should have beefed it up as the G37 brakes now have to stop a 1/2 ton more vehicle.

Reminds me of the G35/37 vs. 3 series battles.. FX series & X6 series are both excellent vehicles and serve their respective audience.

With the economy the way it is, after maybe a year of okay sales, these ugly useless monstrosities will tank and be used in Halloween parties or as stunt doubles in the next "Frankenstein" movie by next year this time.

They get awful MPG, drive sporty for a SUV (thats like saying this **** star midget is awesome) and are vehicles for America really.

Fail.

Oh and the brakes on the FX have been blasted not just here but in EVO/Car as well as they have tested USDM Infiniti's. Infiniti claims interior AND suspension changes for the European market. Whats odd is they are pretty huge 14.2 up front, as big as a M3 or IS-F. Maybe new pads?

Seriously has anyone seen either in person? I almost passed out and made the sign of the cross and asked the Lord for forgiveness.

How can a vehicle look UGLIER than a Goat?

The X6 looks like a Prius and is way overpriced. I wouldnt mind driving an FX50. Despite the looks, the interior is hot and the engine is hot. And despite the mpg, its still an amazing feat to get that kind of performance gain over its predecessor while achieving slightly better mpg. But really, if you're worried about mpg you shouldn't be driving a suv or a luxury car for that matter. How about a Yaris?

I saw an X6 2 weekd ago at a high end mall in scottsdale and it was cool to look at for 2 seconds(mostly bec I am a fan of cars), but then the excitement wore the hell off. I am sure the sticker shock will discourage alot of buyers. Ugly and exspensive is generally not a good combo. I am a first time lexus/toyota owner. I have always been a huge Nissan fan so I would have absolutely gone with the infiniti.(I am also a fan of the extra 15 k in the bank. Or at least 10k and 5k for mods)

Between these two I would go with the BMW X6 hands down. The FX50 sends shivers down my spine and I cringe from just seeing the photos. If this is going to be the Infiniti design language of the future, then count me out. It's downright offensive to my eyes. The design is just too radical...
