Maybe it was a C350 and your eyes were just playing tricks with you?

 

I've never heard of a c550. You probably saw a c350. The AMG c63 is what you should keep your eyes peeled for.

 

Is it the new C class that you saw?

If not, it's also possible that a C55 owner just added a "0" to the 55 for the fun of it.

With the alphabetical/numerical designations on cars nowadays, the mathematical re-arrangements are just too fun.

nope. i did a triple-take. it's the new C class. with 550 badge.
and small C300 stock wheels.

i went around to the front of the car and was gonna ask the owner if he had a turbo charged V8 under the hood, just for fun. But he wasn't in the car.
i was gonna make a fool out of him.

 

So many engine choices in Europe. I remember last year there were rumors of MB actually producing a C550 as the top of the line non-AMG model to get a leg up in the hp wars. Obviously that never happened. Would have been interesting though.

 

Would have been interesting and a dream for us car enthusiasts, but reality dictates that there probably is no market for such a car, even in the US. I trust the market research of car companies more than I do my own judgment and observations.
