No offense intended... but you're almost asking for a kid to not really develop a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic when you just hand them the keys to a brand new 7 series at 18 years old.

Sounds like your parents need to stand up for themselves. Calling the cops and letting him spend some time in jail would probably be a very good idea. It'll **** him off but hopefully slap some sense into him.

Is the car bought in his name? If that's true then you can't report it stolen, if it is under your parents name I say call it in and have the cops teach him a lesson.

Well, I basically tell them the same thing, but you know how parents are sometimes. And the little bastard take advantage of them left and right.

No, its actually in my parents name, but his name is on the insurance policy as the driver.

I'm pretty sure name on the title > name on the insurance policy. I'd report it stolen before the little turd sells it to buy more weed.

Assuming he doesn't have his own credit cards and bank accounts. I say suspend all his finances and when he runs out of money for gas and what not he is gonna have to come back. At that point tell the parents to sell the 7 and make him get a job.

Well at this point we're just trying to find the car and take it away from him, possibly without gettin him into trouble. I know he's been selling weed, so it will be hard for him to get around. But if we don't find the car within the next few days, we will have to report it stolen.

Och - that sucks. I hope he gets things straightened out and I hope that someday he realizes what great family he has.

Turned out that the car isnt a 2004, its a 2005, and it does have that system, but its not activated. They can activate it, but they will not give us the location of the car, they will only give it to the police after a police report is made.

A criminal record will make it harder for anybody to turn their lives around, he sounds like a spoiled #@&$*, but I don't think saddling him with a criminal record is going to help at all

Well thats exactly why we haven't called the police... yet. Spending some quality time in jail would teach him a good lesson, but the criminal record will follow him for the rest of his life.

He is not lost, he just cannot figure out the I-drive

Guys, lets try to help him find the car, not give speeches on what we think is good parenting....

I know BMW assist said they wouldn't give you the location until the report was filed, but would they at least kill the engine?

Anyone else think this kid might not even be in the state anymore?
