Default Seriously considering a C63 over IS-F...

I have had an IS-F on order for nearly 4 months now and I went in to the dealer to see if they have any good news for me about it getting here early, but to no avail it might take longer than expected.

My problem is that I have heard the exhaust note and driven the C63 and now I am having second thoughts about the IS-F. On top of that the wait is only 4-6 months. The price is about $20K US over an IS-F and about $10-15K over a GTR to give all you guys in the US the difference in prices over here. (The C63 goes for about $110K US).

Don't say go the GTR as I have driven it and it is a a peice of crap in my eyes(let that end there).

I want oppinions on the C63 and IS-f if anyone has one.

Hey man, I'm in a similar situation

The thing keeping me away from the C63 is how ****ty Mercedes dealers are

I wouldn't touch a Nissan for the same reason
The Lexus dealer sales+service I love, gear heads + great personalities

Road & Track magazine recently tested and compared the IS-F, RS4, M3, and C63. The C63 ended up in first. Maybe you should read the article for every little comparison details between all the cars in that issue.

I don't think you can go wrong in this class with any car, they're all good, impressive and exciting in their own way. I would think that one of the major fun aspects of owning and driving a C63 AMG is that brutal torque surge you experience when you push the pedal to the metal. No car in this class does this better. It also has a pretty badass engine sound (saw one on the street a few months ago making some noise!).

I can only dream about this kind of performance with the C200 CDI I am currently driving.

Personally, I would get the C63 over the IS-F, but I can't say I've driven either. The reason I would is Mercedes has been doing performance versions of their sedans for decades, and the IS-F is Lexus' first, and that was just a skunk works unofficial bolt-on project at first inside Lexus. IS-F is a monster though but I prefer the looks of the C63 more.

I agree that this is the best looking C class AMG yet, I was not impressed with the last one.

i love the isf but i say C63> ISF,
and if ur really interested in performance, you can buy a RENNtech chip and RENNtech headers and put down around 430 rwhp.. which is over 500hp at the motor!!

Being that in you're in Japan, wouldn't it be faster for you (just a bad assumption) ???

I hope your destination charge is alot cheaper than the US

Exterior C63>IS-F
Interior IS-F>C63

i'd go C63. with a few of the reasons that have been pointed out.
AMG has more experience in with tuning the 6.3L motor/ chasis/ suspension while this is Lexus "F"'s first time around.

personally, the C63 is more attactive to me. its is very aggressive without being overdone. the IS-F, while attactive, just seems like its too much.

performance, both will be well received by tuners. but you better be willing to pay a pretty penny. there are tuners in Cali that are boosting the C63. both stock are more than enough for the road. just dont expect to spank EVERYone.

personaly I think the M3 is the best out of the bunch, the C63 is awsome but its too powerful and can get in trouble quick u have to be alert at all times driving that thing, while the M3 is more forgiving and is alot of fun to drive, the I-SF although I havent seen one yet from what Ive read and heard is a great car but is lacking some.......how about a supercharged S5 or RS4 ( mtm or ABT ) just something diffrent and unique it should be in the same price range as the others.

Bingo. Saying one is better than the other is saying you think "****" are better than "***".

That said while the C63 is faster and IMO does look slightly better (in a angry shorter Honda Accord looking way) the interior is blah and it will simply cost more to maintain and teh dealer will more than likely be a headache.

Just the mere thought of owning the "First" F car from Lexus makes me smile, who knows, 20 years from now we may have threads showing how it was THE first shot from LExus.
