I am also one to support N/A.....not to mention over time, say with 100k or 150k on the odometer....
I'll gladly take the N/A from the IS 350 and be a tick slower BUT the 3 series steering is far superb.

I'm feeling very happy that I decided not to do the ECU mod to my car.

when you say "another"...how many 335is have blown their turbos and at what boost? There were many incidents of Supra TT owners blowing their stock ones, but usually around 24psi +..... or in other words, how much are these 335i turbo's getting pushed?

No high powered BMW has ever been anywhere remotely reliable. The 335 is no exception. These cars are meant to be leased for three years and then disposed.

People aren't supposed to be doing ECU mods to their cars even if they OWN them unless they're willing to forgo their power train warranty... which most of them tried to continue to make use of.

Either way people are trying to get away with something BMW doesn't want them to do.

I wouldn't have gotten this car if it wasn't a lease, but if for some reason I did still get it, I'd probably not have even considered doing the ECU mod since I wouldn't want even more questionable power train reliability after the warranty was up.

Nooo man, he spent 26k completely repairing the car back to stock so he can give it back to the dealer to terminate the lease.

No, no, no, 26K on repair.

If I was in his shoes, I would burry the POS in my backyard and report it stolen.

No kidding.

I lit match would have found its way to the interior real quick, you know electrical fires happen all the time

26,000 dollars for an I6 engine?
That is a rip off.

CAT commercial engines don't even cost that much

dumping a 2jz and mod it out in there might be cheaper.

Pretty ridiculous statement there. I'd call 400hp "high powered" and the E39 M5s are durable. I'd call the E34 M5 "high powered" (for 15 years ago) and the motors are quite durable. I could go on.

That guy was playing with fire, and got burned badly. $26K is a crazy amount of money to fix something he broke on a 3 series Bimmer. I guess he learned his lesson the hard way. Ouch!

He admitted he raced the car. He modded it a lot and drove the snot out of it and it blew up. Big surprise.

But to do all this to a LEASED car is beyond stupid. Reading the thread it seems like he might have learned though from his $26K lesson, vowing not to mod the car again.
