Default What is missing in Lexus' model line-up?

Lexus is having a tough time for the first part of 2008.

Compared to its competitors, Lexus has a few things missing in their line-up.

Although there are some ideas, concepts, and spy pics of vehicles out there, we really have not seen anything spectacularly new for the masses to help Lexus' volume sales increase significantly.

So, what do you think is the most important vehicle for Lexus to produce to help it further progress in the near future?

Of all the types of vehicles that Lexus can make, which will be the most significant product to help increase volume sales and generate brand image.

I always like a big luxury coupe from Lexus.
Not buble like SC430 ( no offense to SC430, I like it too ), but a real big coupe!

I agree with everything except the OLD IS Sportcross, that thing was funky looking...but I think its time may have come with gas prices on their way to $10/gallon.

stop making the SC until a new one can be introduced as a more SLK/Z4 like competitor.

a big +1 on the IS coupe.

oh and yank the hybrid technology from the LS and put it into the IS + ES.

Agree almost 100%. Just run the hybrid technology throughout the entire line and not just hybrid awd on the LS.

My vote was for a SportWagon, especially if it has AWD like the V70 or Outback. The RX is too tall and too SUV-like, and the IS250 AWD is too cramped inside and harsh-riding.

We also need a decent-looking coupe......IMO, the SC styling is awful.

in short, all of those things except for the mini SUV

there needs to be a GS type wagon to compete with the E class and 5 series head on, there needs to be a "good looking" coupe (a replacement for the SC) which would be the roadster since the SC is esentually a two seater, and a cheaper coupe in the IS range.

most importantly though, the lexus lineup needs a cheap hybrid in the 35K range.

I think Lexus is keeping the 600h on the LS for exclusivity.

Why get a $100+k LS when you can get the same engine on a smaller lighter vehicle for half the price?

That might take sales away from the Camry and Highlander Hybrids.

They need two things. They need a higher performance Sports Lux Coupe like the SC only a hell of lot better looking and performing. The current one just doesn't say, "This is a sweet car." at all.

They also need a lower end coupe like an IS350 coupe but it can't look like crap either. Part of the problem is their lack of sport in their lineup. The IS cars are it as far as sports type cars. They have faster cars in some areas but nothing really to get excited about. The steering is in fact numb on most Lexus cars.

well...a lexus owner like me is very tempted to buy a prius of camry hybrid right now do to the gas prices. But...i still dont know if i want a toyota versus a lexus. those who are willing to pay more for the added refinement dont have a choice unless we shell out 60K for the GS.

there needs to be something cheaper for buyers like me
