Passenger 'moons' at speed camera
Passenger 'moons' at speed camera
A front seat car passenger was photographed baring his backside at a speed camera in Northumberland.
The "mooning" man was snapped by the mobile camera as the black BMW X5 drove past on the A1171 Dudley Lane in Cramlington last month.
His behaviour has been labelled as "dangerous and offensive" by road safety campaigners.
Police may take action against the man for public order offences and not wearing a seat belt.
Officers have the registration of the car, which was not breaking the speed limit, and intend to contact its owner.
It is understood the driver will not face prosecution as no driving offence was being committed.
Jeremy Forsberg, of the Northumbria Safer Roads Initiative, said: "This behaviour is simply ridiculous - it's clear what he was thinking with what he had on show.
"Not only is it disrespectful, but distasteful and offensive, particularly to children who may have been exposed to this nonsense.
"This prank could have been a real distraction from the driver and that is not something to laugh about."

When I was in high school, it was not unusual to see guys doing this up and down the street in front of the school. You'd hear a couple of honks on the horn, look out, and see some guy sticking his a** out with the side window rolled down. Police did not patrol the schools regularly in those days.

that's not that bad...Scottsdale, AZ was the first state in US to implement speed cameras on the freeway, and after installation, there was a month of trial where you don't have to pay for any fine.
One night, someone turned on cruise control and jumped to the back seat and started driving from the back, now that was a hilarious picture.
*my friend that used to work at the Scottsdale police department told me this, needless to say, they were furious

That road is not far from me here and and I have a number of friends who live along it. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion I know whose X5 it was.
I can't wait to see the photofit on the local news to see if I'm right (hang on that doesn't read right..).

We had speed cameras in Mexico City (only locally plated cars could be ticketed, not me), but I remember seeing in the paper pictures of people giving the middle finger to the camera. However, it only ended up being a $24 USD fine roughly at the time and though the local authorities wanted to take action against those also giving the middle finger, they had no law to go off of, it just simply was not in the books.

LOL, that's hilarious. Reminds me of when Clarkson and Hammond were standing in front of that speed camera saluting it waiting for someone to speed to catch them in the picture.
