2008’s Top Fuel-Efficient Three-Row SUVs
The LC costs WAY more than a Sequoia. If you need an SUV with a human sized 3rd row, why should you have to jump from $35K all the way up to $70k?
Uh, because the market isn't asking for a 3rd row RX. A few people on internet forums asking for it does NOT constitute "the market" or the majority of RX owners. Take a look in the RX forums, most owners DO NOT want a 3rd row.
Toyota did well without the Sequoia before. I'm sure they'll still manage. If toyota continues to build SUVs that fits everyone's need, they'll have a lineup of 10+ SUVs. If someone is looking for space, they should look at the Sienna AWD. That is of course they need to boost their ego to macho status..

Ths Sequoia starting price is under $35K; the Land Cruiser starting price is over $63K. If they were only going to keep one of those 2 trucks, they will serve many more customers by keeping the Sequoia as opposed to the Land Cruiser.
Trust me, you are wrong..... AND if you are so right... why exactly are they giving the RX a 3rd row (albeit about 4 years late)?

And most minivans would place near the bottom of this list had we broadened our search to include them, although they do offer more cargo volume, easier access to the cabin and, in most cases, vastly more spacious and comfortable third rows.
But there’s that pesky image problem. If a minivan is an absolute no and fuel efficiency is your hottest of hot buttons, we suggest sticking to triple-tier crossovers, and none are more efficient than these.

That, right THERE, is what needs to be addressed. WHY should a minivan be a no JUST because of image? That's nonsense. People who honestly believe that would buy beach property in Kansas. If a minivan is the best vehicle for one's family, then "image" should be tossed in the trash can where it belongs and a new Sienna or Odyssey should go in the driveway. If the neighbors don't like it, that's THEIR problem. Our society allows one to buy whatever vehicle he or she can afford.

What people post on an RX forum is NOT a scientific poll of what a majority of RX shoppers actually want.

One thing you guys have to remember, though, is that usually there is no free lunch. If you fill up the third-row seat with children or small adults (most 3rd-row seats in smaller SUV's cant hold large adults) you will still add weight, and the mileage will go down. So, with the 3rd-row seat in use, the little not-so-gas-guzzler Cute-Ute becomes more of one, and you may not really save that much fuel.

Very soon Toyota will release the Venza which is a station wagon or a type of CUV. So there you have it lots of choices to choose from...
