The new accord is a great car but I think you should only get the accord if you need the size and power and don't care about the badge. Otherwise stick with the 250. Next time maybe you should lease your cars because there will always be something new and fresh around the corner.

The accord although fairly nice compared to the sedan version. I would much rather have the IS. The IS even though the hp seems very low, i think its actually not bad in the power department. I dont go racing or anything so on the streets and highway i get enough power to go from point A to B. Sure more power is always nice but i wouldnt get the accord.

IMO: i dont think i can downgrade from the IS to a accord.

I dont really like the new accord's styling, Specifically to the coupe, i dont like the rear bumper. The area looks awkward to me.

I would say don't justify it to anyone else but yourself. Personally, I don't care how good one car is over another. If you as an owner are not satisfied with it and want something else get something else. It doesn't make any sense too me to keep something you don't want to keep. If you like the IS, keep it. If you like the Accord more, get the Accord.

That said, the Accord does have a lot of good usable power. It does feel good to drive. Interior quality IMHO is in the Honda/Toyota class which means it is not bad at all, but still not in the luxury car class even fully loaded. It makes a perfect daily driver. Resale value may be a wash since the Accord holds its value quite well with the best of them.

i drove a coworkers new couple V6 EX-L 6spd manual, and it was very impressive

If youre basing your decision around gas prices then thats a really bad one, because you arent going to benefit a whole lot going from a IS250 to a V6 accord coupe. Youre not coming from some 10 mpg H2.

Exactly.

If you're spending $200 a month on your IS250, you'll be spending $190 on the Accord...

I say don't do it. I don't believe this new technology. As far as I know, this new technology might be able to save you some fuel when running on "Eco" modes but also has to sacrifice some power when doing so, and it should be more fuel efficient than other 3.5L V6 engines, but not your 2.5L one. And the hit you take right now is enough for the fuel saving for a few years. Why do so? FWD vehicles with this much torque is no good. Wanting a fast car and wanting a fuel economical car are two contradicting desires. You either want a fast car and waste some more fuel, or drive a relatively slower car but spend less money on gas for long term. As far as the navigation system goes, try some aftermarket ones, that only runs you several hundred dollars at most. The stock navi looks good but also cost a lot more. Just my opinions.

The whole gas prices thing is so minimal to me for large scale decisions. Someone I know was complaining about putting premium in their car and I said, "for a 16 gallon tank that is only $3.20 difference per tank fill up. Just don't buy a beer at a bar that week." People love to use the gas price thing as a difference maker when in reality they could cut back on several other items in today's world. It is just that gas is a universal purchase for most people. Sorry to rant on this thread.

If anyone buys a new car for better MPG, you must calculate how much you are going to pay in sales tax for the new car. Figure out how many tanks of gas it will take to break even on the tax. Then decide if it is still worth it.

You gotta remember the law of supply and demand. We will soon be reaching a point where demand of fuel will drop. Like the housing market, the bubble will burst. If you can hold tight with your current car, I feel you will be better off in the long run from a financial point of view.

However, if you want a new car because you want one and $$ is not a factor...then got for it!

I'm curious why you didn't notice the HP, before you bought the IS. If you wanted a V6 wouldn't you have noticed it wasn't for you, by test driving the car or even reading the sticker?

Yes, Because we all know this works... this is why i cant get a viper...i had the money for a 96GTSC sitting in the bank when i got back from iraq...but the wifey says NO.

and before anyone asks me why i didnt get a lexus and got a Honda Civic instead:

1. Road salt is a BIATCH, when i get a lexus, im gonna have it for 20+ years.
2. Cant find an LS430 or gen II LS400 in my area, and the ones that i have found are high in mileage and FULL of rust.
3. Wifey cant drive a standard, and refuses to learn, so we have to have a car that she can drive too (viper only)
4. INSURANCE! still recovering from when i was young and dumb...no DUI's or anything just lots of tickets...cant afford the ins on a viper, let alone a viper and something for the wife.
5. im in the land of HOLY 9 FEET OF SNOW IN 1 NIGHT BATMAN ... viper is a no go, as is LS4
6. Gas mileage. If i cant afford to gas it up, whats the point in having it (4.10 a gallon for premium here as i type, and prices are still rising )

Like what may I ask?

Depends. I found that Toyota maintenance is really bargain basement cheap in Canada compared to Honda Canada.

If you can wait, why not see what Toyota has in store for the Solara replacement?

Oh and VCM isn't new. Honda has used it in the Accord Hybrid as well as the Odyssey EX and Touring Models. What's new for the Accord is that it can run on 3 or 4 or 6. The "old" VCM could only run in 3 or 6 mode.
