I personally like the Fit better because of the magic seats that they have. Sure the engine leaves much to be desired, but that little car can move a lot of stuff!

I would go with the Fit if those are the 2 choices. Suzuki SX4 seems good in this class.

I would definitely go for Honda Fit Sport. Styling-wise I think xD is a very ugly car.

Thanks for your input so far guys, I appreciate it.

True, but I don't mind having the extra power in the xD when needed. There is a fairly significant difference in acceleration for when you need merging power.

But yes, with gas heading to the $4.00/gal area, MPG is a priority.

The matrix doesn't appeal to me at all. And yes, it is a good amount more than I want to spend - most models are over $20K. And it's gas mileage doesn't compare.

Those Magic seats are amazing and a huge selling point. If the xD had them, this would be a no-brainer. The xD is within 6 cubic ft. of cargo space to the Fit so it isn't that much of a difference for me.

In no particular order my criteria would be:

-best overall value/price
-exterior styling
-MPG rating
-interior design/versatility
-driving comfort and conveniances

honestly, the fit is u-g-l-y

the xD looks much cooler, plus its new styling and it doesnt "fit" in with the rest of the cars, no pun intended.

im surprised however about the xD's carbon footprint rated at a 3/10. thats horrible.

wtf are magic seats? lol

i havent driven either, but based on looks, the xD is much better looking

I will now say that I think the xD is a much better looking car and from what I've heard, many agree.

I have heard so many people comment on how ugly the Fit is (I don't think it's ugly, but there are proportional issues). Many call it a wedge of cheese or door stop.

Nevertheless, I do like both of them and ultimately all that matters is what the owner thinks of it.

What do you mean a 3/10 carbon footprint? I don't see that figure on the posted chart. And I don't know how it could have a horrible carbon footprint if it's one of the most fuel efficient cars out there. It gets 33 mpg's, the Fit gets 34. Barely a difference.

Oh, and "Magic seats" offer extreme versatility. Check this out....

sorry, i mistyped. i meant the epa pollution score, which is part of the carbon footprint. notice on the bottom it says it gets a 3 while the fit gets a 6. fuel efficient doesnt mean clean exhausts. ie. the LS600H is a SULEV with a high air pollution score (a good thing), but only gets 22 combined epa

The only head to head comparison test I could find for these two was done by Edmunds.

....the xD was their clear winner....

i just watched a 2009 insideline video of the fit, and it looks much better than the current version. i would hold out for it. it might have been a typo on insideline's site, but they had it saying "honda fit hybrid" if it wasnt a typo, i cant wait for that

No way in hell! There horrible, why not an Aztec then!

Again, to expensive.

Let's keep it under $16K.

To correct my original prices, the xD and Fit sport are $15,500 (not $16,500).

You made me googled. The shape's spiffy. The wing..., well let's just say it's a rally wing.
