Default I just got back from Driving a new M3

This car is the Sh#t! This has to be at the top of my dream car list. Am I nuts for considering this purchase? It felt like a race car on the street. The high RPM range was crazy on it.

this is what i think. you and test drive all the cars that you are interested. write down what you like and you don't, including prices

narrow down on what kind of cars you want, sedan, coupe, etc... write down what you need and don't need from the car

put all the info together and put it in one thread with all the pros and cons together. that would make it so much easier for everyone to discuss and help you decide

btw, it's not nuts to consider m3. in that category, the m3 has been my pick since long time ago, after quite some research i did behind the scene

Rom,

Good idea, I am very close on my decision. I am basically just debating whether or not to drop the cash on the M3 or just order a 335i with color of choice. The M3 is only one color and that is the way it is.

Color choices aside, I think you should get the M3. This was your weekend car right? If it were your daily driver I might go with the 335i myself though.

Yes, it is my weekend car. I have my IS 350 with me today just for the hell of it. Really my concern is the overall cost of the car and insurance and whether I will regret it later when I buy a new house. I have never been the type to spend a lot of money on my cars in the past. So spending this much is different for me.

Why would you be nuts? It's a great car, and high-revving engines are a blast to drive. Make sure to take time to think over it of course, as with any major purchase.

If money is a concern it's very easy for me to see the 335 as an alternate. It's near M3-like power is cool and a few mods will bring the handling into the same category. The M3 badge is an enthusiast wet dream, though. If that's what you want, do it. You only live once.

Would you take it over a 911 non-turbo?

buying a car vs buying a house, totally different concepts. one is depreciating asset, the other is more like investment (historically).

you should ask yourself and think clearly if you are the type who is willing to spend money (could be big chunk) and pretty see it go away over time, and not kill yourself over your "loss". that's the key towards buying new cars. otherwise might as well stay with new.

and of course, this goes steeper and steeper when you get higher $$ cars. think that through, no one can help you on that

I really like the new M3. White w/ carbon fiber roof looks unbelievably sweet.

You sir, however, should buy an RS4.
