Angry Petrol Shortage

What the?

Okay so here's the deal... No damn petrol station in the Eastern 'burbs (Sydney, Australia) has good petrol! Only regular unleaded, diesel and LPG... what the?! The only place I could find with some form of premium was at a Caltex (Texaco), and it's pretty lacking as well. Driving through the inner west of Sydney and all of the stations seem to be out of the good stuff too (one petrol station had NO bowsers with any type of fuel available lol).

What's the story? Is America going through the same thing? I already pay way too much on petrol ($1.65/L for premium) and git my teeth when I see how much I owe the petrol station but when they don't even provide the right petrol without any warning is just cruel... I can't even fill my car up anymore

No shortage here at all no matter the grade.

Do you have any worker strikes, as in truckers who otherwise transport the stuff?

gas shortage is a myth, if there really was a shortage youd see lines and out of gas signs, never seen anything close to that here

Its a game for them. Great way for them to generate revenue claiming "shortage".....welcome to the business world....*generate false shortages in order to increase demand, and then raise up prices.

But yes, gas prices are still super high here to. What happened to the good old days of gas prices being $1.50 premium? I would love to ask one of those suits of the oil companies, has supply and demand changed THAT much to generate a price hike more than DOUBLE!? Can production really not keep up? Of course the honest answer would be no, but then that wouldn't put record profits into their pockets now would it?

EDIT: Funny thing, a few days ago i filled up for 3.20 a gallon. I drive by the same place today...3.40. 20 F'ing cents for a couple days, yet it takes 4 weeks to 6 weeks for it to drop back down that much.

the thing is is that oil companies have seen that people will pay 3.00/gallon for gas and not go berzerk about it. So why would they lower it. I have the same bad feeling the same thign is going to happen with ammo prices for people that go to the shooting range. Past couple years ammo prices went crazy up (guessing because of the war and metal shortages) but people are still paying the high prices for ammo

ha!

we've just been approved for a carbon tax (on all fuel, not just petrol).

Anyway, starts on July 1 (although I'm sure gas stations won't mind having a head start) and adds 2.4¢/litre, going up to 7.2¢/litre in 2012.

Well if you are going to run and keep up with the American big dogs without getting bit you may need to be aware of language barriers

You, for example, cannot say things like could you lift my bonnet or my bonnet was stuck or you'd be viewed as into cross dressing in ladies attire.

Feeling peckish, one might think you are making a pass at them.

And "mate" is something domestic pets and zoo animals do
