Buick said its 2008 Lucerne Super sedan will be priced from $39,395, including a $765 shipping charge. The Lucerne Super goes on sale in April.
Buick uses the Super badge for its range-topping models. The Lucerne Super is powered by a 292-horsepower 4.6-liter Northstar V8. Standard equipment includes magnetic ride control, premium steering gear, heated and cooled front seats, remote start, ultrasonic rear parking assist, rain-sensing wipers and XM Satellite Radio.
Exterior enhancements include a chrome waterfall grille, unique front and rear fascias and rocker panels, and dual chrome exhaust tips. Inside, the Lucerne Super is fitted with a leather-wrapped instrument panel with French-seam stitching, suede accents and a heated steering wheel with walnut trim.
What this means to you: Buy one soon — GM is phasing out the Northstar V8 in 2010.

I kinda like the Lucerne too. I briefly shopped it when looking for my current car. Surprisingly, the ES V6, 6 speed auto was quicker 0-60 than the Northstar, 4 speed auto. The ES also had shorter stopping distances and got much better gas mileage than the V8. Ride/handling is about the same, as expected.
And why would I get this over the ES, avalon, used LS, Genesis, and other mentioned cars???
Can that wood shifter get any bigger???
The only thing that is nice from buick is the enclave
Edit: How come destination charge is so high? Aren't they made in the US...which means it's a lot closer than the imports?

For that coin, that engine should be pumping out at least 50 more hp - otherwise it should just have a high output V6 like in the CTS or G35 or something. Still a 4-speed trans too? That might have something to do with the 15mpg city rating. Doh...

I think this platform debuted before the original LS went on sale. That should lend some perspective to the situation.
It's not a bad car, but if I had $40K to spend, I don't think I would even consider it for a minute.

i think the thing that bugs me most is the 4speed automatic, thats what my dad's car has and its a 2001, although i have liked the lucerne cause it looks pretty nice and they are getting pretty damn reliable
Maybe some of GM's updated drivetrain technology being used in the CTS, Malibu etc. will find its way into Buick sedans sometime soon.
