finally! I'm tired of seeing manufacturers focus on building up their HP numbers. Sure its neat and all, but anything beyond ~300HP is just monstrous and wouldn't make much sense to an average driver. Don't get me wrong, I love performance, but when they compromise other features (such as interior etc.) to get huge HP, then thats when they need to recheck their objectives.

Yes it would not make sense to the average driver to by an AMG, M, RS, V car. "Driving enthusiasts need apply" should be on the window sticker. There is always the option to purchase bread and butter versions if you can't handle extreme horsepower.. Screw it.. Folks need to forget about the corvette C6 Zo6's and opt for the Chevy Cobolt!
I don't mind if they don't keep coming out with new engines with 100 more horsepower every time. At least keep up with technology on the engines, but redirect their focus on quality, handling, etc.
The had the w202 C36 and then the w203 C32 one was NA, the second was supercharged
They had both 36 and 32 versions? and 32 in NA and Supercharged??

I think the 43 is still the one that impressed me the most, and certainly not because I had one (given all the problems I had with it, I think I'd be more impressed with it had I never experienced it ). The 302/302 was incredible at the time.
Yeah that was the lineup I was familiar with.. The C43 being the first V8 ever used in C-Class.
Yup, and thats why I was hoping this would be "AMG Declares the horsepower war over... ...Today Mercedes announced the return of its 7.3l this time with the aid of 2 turbos. Without a doubt the horsepower war is over now that this 850 horsepower beast is under the hood of the new W222 E" or something to that effect.
It doesn't mean that HP war is not over. Except fotr the Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes may have just won the last battle, that's all.
W202 C36 na -> W202 C43 na -> W203 C32 s/c -> W203 C55 na -> W204 C63 na
Exactly, I could not remember the breaddown of the nomenclature. I remember thinking, "just how many engines are they going to shove in these C-Classes?"
