Default Damn the weak dollar!

So lexus has increased their prices in the mid-year life, like the LS460. It was an increase of $500 from 2007 to 2008, and then it was another $500 last month or so to cope with the weak dollar.

I was looking to buy a Merc C300 or C350, and now they have also raised by about $500 dollars

oh the horror!

May not be such a bad thing after all, when looking at the big picture. It gives people more reason to buy American, and support our economy.

Actually we are lucky in the states because a C-Class here in the PI cost nearly 75k U.S Dollars.

I think most of the manufacturers make this kind of mid-year increases even when the USD is not weak ...

not really, not before... its combination of steel prices + USD... we even had Euro prices increased mid-life which pretty much doesnt happen often...

I've heard of them many times before with the Infiniti's & a couple others, & that was a few years ago when the USD was still strong.

Compare to the price of LS460, ppl buying it wouldn't even notice the difference.

Ya, if you can afford to spend 65,000 you surely must be able to afford 65,500, right?

lol...i have never seen a mid life increase, or i guess havent noticed one.

its a bit ridiculous. its not a matter of who can afford it, but its just something to nudge the way towards not worth it. If i can buy something for 500 less, then i dont think i should be paying 500 more for the same thing just because the dollar is dropping.

just trying to say that this recession in the economy (which wont end anytime soon) has affected so many things in my life.

I can understand what you're saying but in this situation, ie. dealing with a 65-70k car, $500 doesn't make a big impact at all.

If you can afford that car, than a $500 difference shouldn't sway your decision. If it does, then you're already shopping for something that's way out of your ballpark.
