Looks like a squarer C-class. Seems the same hoodline into the front fender will continue. Surprisingly no fender flares.

Personally I do not really like the look, I think they currently generation looked a lot better, and what is going on with the double fog lights?

Looks like a C-Class that got PhotoShopped taller.

Rear looks VERY C-class. Front fenders in profile looks somewhat S-Class.

The sedan has a bit of a droopy butt, I think caused by the way the bottom edge
of the rear door glass curves down toward the back of the car.

The wagon actually looks better and more aggressive than the sedan.

The R-Class isn't a minivan.

Or, if it is, it's a MINI mini van. Has half the interior space of an Odyssey.

The R-Class is more of an SAV. Mercedes markets it as an "executive transporter."

2010 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC ConceptWhile Mercedes readies it new E-Class for its U.S. debut with 6- and 8-cylinder gasoline power, it is launching a trial balloon to see if the public is ready for a 4-cylinder turbodiesel version of its popular executive class sedan. So, at the New York show it introduced the 2010 E250 BlueTEC, a diesel concept designed specifically for North America. This model is powered by a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel which produces 204 bhp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, the latter reaching its peak between 1600 and 1800 rpm. The diesel powerplant features high-tech features such as high-pressure common-rail direct injection and twin Lanchester balance shafts for smooth operation. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

To meet stringent U.S. emission laws, the E250 BlueTEC employs a particulate trap, two catalytic converters plus an AdBlue urea injection system to reduce NOX emissions. The car is equipped with a 25-liter tank for urea, which is scheduled to be replenished during normal service intervals. In addition to meeting Bin 5 emissions regulations, Mercedes says the vehicle will also meet Europe's even stricter EU6 requirements that do not go into effect until September of 2014. This clean diesel E250 BlueTEC concept is said to deliver fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg highway. Impressive.
Lots of torque, but that don't make it quick.

R-class is a failure from a sales standpoint, there's a good chance it will be dropped from lineup soon.

Agreed, not quick.

But adequate speed, good refinement and efficiency plus clean emissions makes it a probable winner.

Urea injections reduce the carbon output which is great. The toxins are still there unfortunately. Far from healthy compared to a gasoline vehicle.

They're quite common in Stuttgart now. Here is a picture I snapped on those rare days when I have my camera with me. Notice the word "Werkswagen" on the trunklid which in English translates into "factory vehicle".

I really like that they returned to a more angular design.

the R has potential if they re-work the front and rear lights. They look terrible. They also need to attach Mini-van doors in the back, makes much more sense/practicality.
