Also I just found out my car has this too YIKES
CATS, Jaguar's Computer Active Technology Suspension is optional on V6 and V8 models, standard on the R. CATS optimizes ride and handling by using uprated springs to increase roll stiffness and electronically controlled two-stage adaptive dampers (shocks). Accelerometers and a brake sensor send signals to an electronic control unit to dynamically tune the suspension to driving conditions.

With the possible exception of Italian exotics such as Ferrari and Lamborghini, no contemporary automotive brand name has more romantic mystique than Jaguar.

The XK and XJ are superb but seemingly ignored, which is sad.
Well the S-type is also discontinued after this year, replaced by the XF.
Jaguar has literally lost BILLIONS of dollars since Ford took it over.
I was a huge Jaguar fan and honestly still am. However knowing all that, its image is very tarnished.

Arguably correct, although the Corvette nameplate and early Ford Thunderbirds have to rank way up there too.

It appears that you have posted this on every forum on the internet. Not to burst your bubble but here are the stats on your car:
Jaguar S Type R Specifications:
Make and Model: Jaguar S Type R Year: 2002 Engine Type: 4.2 liter 32V V-8 Torque: 408lb-ft@3500rpm Acceleration 0-60: 5.3 s Suspension: Computer Active Technology Wheel Base: 114.5 inches List Price: $62,400 Horsepower: 400bhp@6100rpm Top Speed: 155 (electronically controlled) mph Brakes: Brembo 4-wheel vent. disc Transmission: 6-Speed ZF Automatic Weight: 4046 lbs
5.3 seconds 0-60 does not qualify this as a beast; quick maybe but not a beast.

Jags are great buys for the price. Look what I found, some cheap X-Types. Why buy a Honda, or Mazda when you can drive a cheap Jag ?

I will smoke you in my IS350 next time I see your car, if you don't run and hide. And post it all over 35 different internet forums.

So what people drive old cars all the time. Ya car is old too, time it was driven off the lot its old and used. I switch my whips every 4-6 months to avoid depreciation. I resell my cars and make the same what I paid, or 1-3K profit. I get to drive what I want. Do you do that ? Nope. Besides I save money buying used. Sure I can get an IS350 but I bet If we at a club the broads will be leaving with me, the one with the Jag ya dig.

I don't need a car with pink HID to get girls, and I could care less about depreciation. If I do, I would be taking a bus or driving an old Jag.

Stock for Stock I don't think the Type R jag will beat an IS350.
Here's an excerpt from Car and Drivers review
So why can't this formidable powertrain go trolling M5s for pink slips? Part of the race is lost at launch. For packaging and cost reasons, the differential has no mechanical limited-slip device, so the brakes are used—rather a lot, as it happens—to prevent an individual wheel from spinning, even with the traction control switched off. A bit of launch-enhancing wheelspin is allowed when both tires have equal grip, but it's inevitably followed by an early upshift to prevent slippage in the next gear. Must maintain composure!
More difficult to explain is the general shift mapping. The solid redline is logically marked at 6250 rpm, just above the 6100-rpm power peak. But even in the transmission's sport mode and shifting manually, it shifts out of first at an indicated 5250 rpm, out of second at 5750, and out of third at 5900. That means the engine never made 400 horsepower during its 99-mph quarter-mile run in 14.1 seconds. Our test car's 5.5-second sprint to 60 mph trails that of the XJR by 0.2 second and the M5 by 0.8.
IS350's are solid low 5's 0 - 60 and mid 13's in the 1/4.. you'll lose unless you're modded. + you're car IS old and unreliable so I wouldn't really want to race a new lexus if i were you unless you got lots of $$$ for repairs. But you paid 16k for it only afterall and that's a a super deal just cruise around in it and enjoy!
