Default Land Rover LRX Concept

Land Rover LRX Concept

Posted on Thursday 13 December 2007

We now have official images and details for Land Rover’s upcoming LRX Concept, a futuristic crossover model with coupe styling that previews a future compact model from the British label.

Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport has published the official images and details ahead of the concepts unveiled, which was scheduled for next month’s Detroit Auto Show. We now know that the vehicle measures 4.35m in length and 1.55m in height, which makes it slightly smaller than the Freelander/LR2 compact SUV on which it is based.

The concept also gets 20in wheels, a panoramic glass roof, and ground clearance of just 13cm. Inside, the concept gets two-tone leather trim and is highlighted with aluminum elements. There’s seating for four as well as an extended center console and a fridge.

According to the source, production versions will arrive in 2009, if given the green light, and could come with a hybrid option. Click here to see an artist’s impression of the final production version due in 2009.

Other than the stylized wedge-shape and high butt, I do find a lot of beautiful details in the concept.

The wheels, shifter (alla XF), head+fog lights, steering wheel -- all are striking and appropriate for Land Rover.

Looks just like the RR Stormer concept.

I wonder if this is gonna be the next styling directions for their trucks in general. Is this their first vehicle not based on a truck chassis?

I see a vague outward resemblance to the X6...

Looks interesting to say the least. I think the interior looks pretty cool though.

It looks like there is an iPhone in the center console.

Yea, I was just looking at that. (and the Jaguar XF like gear selector)

I like this concept. The front end is very aggressive. If ever approved for production they will probably have to tame down the rising window line as it makes the rear end look massively tall.
