I actually saw it in a commercial for Dodge last night during one of the games. They had one old Challenger stopped at a light when the new one pulls up right next to it. When the light turns green it leaves the old Challenger in a cloud of smoke and a trail of smokey 11's. They also had the new Dakota (I think) in that ad. It seemed to be a showcase of their new models, but each vehicle was almost a snapshot... long enough to recognize you like it, but not long enough to get detailed looks at it...
Any word on colors yet? There have been a lot of rumors in the various Internet car forums, but apparantly nothing concrete.
The orange metalflake seen in the show car is strongly rumored to be one of them. The twin black "stripes" you see on the hood are actually not paint or graphics at all, but simply the dark-gray carbon-fiber hood showing through where it was NOT painted.....a clever idea.
Many of us who grew up with the original car, of course, are hoping for some of the original pastel and lollipop colors, of course.....I particularly liked the violet purple (Plum Crazy) and the Lime Green (TorLime) of 1970-71. A bright magenta pink version was even briefly produced in 1971...I have seen a couple at old auto shows owned, by, yes, males.
Dodge could have chosen to bring back some of these bright 1970 colors on the new Charger R/T and SRT but, sadly, decided on only the yellow Top Banana and Orange Go-Man-Go....and which weren't even the same color names as the original 1970 Yellow Lemon Twist and Hemi Orange. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake twice....actually a third mistake, considering that the new Charger should have gotten only two doors and got four instead.

Production '09 Dodge Challenger Pics Revealed . . .
Production Dodge Challenger Pics
These are camera phone shots from the Chrysler dealer announcement show in Vegas this past week.
Notice the wheels, the B-pillar and thank god the lack of a cross hair truck grille. Other than that the spys were right, it DOES look better than the concept! Car was rocking a T-56 6-speed too...
The *** end couldn't have been done better IMO, although the reg's have added an inch to the rear bumper, I love the tail light..THANKS MOPAR!!!!
-Comes out in March as 08 model
-5500 to be built, all SRT8's with AUTOMATICS for 38K
-July 08 production begins for the 09 model year where they will offer 3.5L V6, and both 5.7L and 6.1L HEMIS will be available with 6-spd T-56's...
I believe this is the winnner in the Detriot Muscle hype.
No, it is not. Unless there are some new engines for it that we don't know about, it will take a distant second place in the power department to Carroll Shelby's new 600 HP and 725 HP Mustang Super Snakes....and probably third or fourth place if you toss in the Dodge Viper GTS and Corvette Z06, but unlike the Mustang and Challenger, they are pure sports cars.
But for being an acurate retro outside.....I agree, it is probably the best effort yet (minus the chrome bumpers, of course). The interior, though, is nothing like the original one in 1970, with its dash and console wood paneling and accordion-ridged steering column.

The fun thing is that Chrysler now has a true pony car. With the Mustang, the Camaro and now this, it's the 60's all over again. Muscle-car fans rejoice!

Yep...true to some extent. GM made a serious mistake in 2002, dropping the F-fodies....though they are too stubborn to admit it.
I've got money in the bank ready for when and if they ever do a retro Road Runner, with the cartoon bird graphics and "Beep-Beep" horn, but I'm not holding my breath. With the Plymouth name gone, of course, they would have to use the Chrysler name instead, like they did with the PT Cruiser and later versions of the Voyager minivan and Prowler street-rod.

mmarshall; the 600hp+ Supra Snakes by Shelby arent in the same price range I dont believe. They will be for an exclusive few. If the pricing of the GT500 is any indication, they would be REALLY expensive.

I thought I saw a Plum Charger SRT at a dealership driving through CT.
Sorry I saw Plum Crazy Daytona R/T version. 1400 made for the US in 2007.

The F-bodies had gotten so big and heavy they could hardly be considered pony cars any longer. Plus the Mustang consistently whipped them in the marketplace. I think the new Camaro will return to it to its pony car roots.
I wonder if they bring back the retro colors like plum craxy which was the color my dads 1970 was originally and also bring back the color Moulin Rouge which is the pink color.
That would be the 08' Camaro Concept, not the Challenger.
lol...I dont blame him, they honestly do look quite similar. But I do like them both.
I just hope there is some difference between this and the Charger R/T, SRT8, and the 300C's besides only having 2 less doors and a different body style...aka half assed, which is the impression I am currently getting.
