One of the things I couldn't help imagining, as I looked over the Subaru version at the D.C. Auto Show last week, is that, IMO, except for the small rear-seat, it going to be a superb modern-day replacement for the old Datsun 240Z of the early 70s. It's like the old Z in many ways......simple, uncluttered inside, good-looking, well-built, relatively inexpensive by today's standards, and (though I haven't test-driven it yet) promises to be fun to drive as well.

Sure. But they haven't been released yet in my area....the Subaru people at the show said probably a couple of months. I might (?) be able to combine them, though, into one review.....there are only minor trim, dash-layout, and equipment differences between the two. The Scion's shocks and suspension are tuned slightly different from the Subaru's, but that's probably the only significant one.

Some people are so caught up on tire brands and compounds...the 86/BRZ/FRS comes standard with Prius Spec 215/45/17 Michelin Primacy HP tires...and it handles WELL!

That's partly because the Prius now has considerably more aggressive wheels/tires (and suspension) than in past-versions. I can remember, not long ago, when driving a Prius was like Humpty-Dumpty....tires would squeal on any real cornering, and it would roll like a beach-ball.
