Default Lamborghini LMX SUV TEST MULE Spy Shots:

Spy Shots: Lamborghini LMX SUV

Posted on Wednesday 29 August 2007

Lamborghini could have a successor to the original LM002 if the prototype in these latest spy shots turns out to be the latest test-mule from the Italian supercar manufacturer. Although the prototype is dressed in the sheetmetal of a Porsche Cayenne, the widened fenders and lowered front-end suggests that this is no ordinary SUV.

Earlier reports suggested that Porsche’s next-gen Cayenne would be smaller and sportier than the current model but this test-mule is clearly larger. Rumors that it could be a new SUV model for Bentley are also unlikely to be true given the speeds the prototype has been seen reaching around Germany’s Nurburgring.

Based on a modified version of the Cayenne platform, the new Lambo SUV will likely feature the Gallardo’s V10. This could be followed by a smaller 4.5L V8 model and possibly a diesel variant running Audi’s 5.9L V12 TDI.

Lamborghini’s immediate plans will see it launch a new Murcielago-based-supercar at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show and possibly a new V8-powered entry-level Gallardo.

I don't think Lambo should touch it. Let VW/Audi/Porsche do it. Keep Lambo with track-worthy (and track-only) racers...

I like how these Spy Shots are always so fantastic when they have no idea as to what they are looking at anymore than the normal Joe Schmoe.

Oh well, people will still buy though.

This vehicle (if produced) will kick some serious buttocks Great vehicle to drive through the canyons of NYC, with the panache & performance to match.

Because the LM002 wasn't that + I wouldn't mind a people carrier with attitude

I hope they can some how use voodoo magic and hide the weight required to make a large, safe SAV/SUV. The X5 and Cayenne are awesome but suffer from major handling limits and major understeer.

I suppose if Minivans were as hot as SUV's we would be seeing supper fast sporty minivans huh. This whole thing is just stupid to me. I would much rather carve a mountain side with an exotic/sport car than an SUV.

Lambo should do it only if this is as extreme as the LM002
if it can be hidden under the metal skin of a cayenne then no, dont do it!!
if it can be hidden under the metal skin of a hummer H1 then DO IT!
