I have a S2000 so I know about tight and hard to get into cars and I'm sure the Elise is a lot worse.
Correct. The Elise, along with the Opel GT of 1970 and the MG Midget of the late 50's/early 60's, is one of the worst street cars I have ever seen for a tall or heavy person to get in and out of. In one way, though, it is better than the Opel GT: When I first got into a new Opel GT at the local Buick-Opel dealer at age 18 (yes, I was looking at new cars even back then) I could fit into the seat but could NOT shut the driver's door...the car was simply too narrow and it bounced off my left shoulder no matter how I sat. And, of course, at age 18, I was not as heavy back then as now.
Overall a great car, but for me, I'd look at more real cars such as: Boxster S, Cayman, and Corvette that probably are much easier to live with.
None of those other cars are as snappy or agile as the ultra-low-slung, featherweight Elise, but I agree with you....they are all far easier to live with as daily drivers.....and they all run about the Elise's price.
