if i had to buy a used lexus my vote goes towards a 2GS. have you done any research on the GS because its highly recommended for a used car.

If your choice is between a 98-00 LS400 or a 98-00 GS400, I would recommend the GS. Having owned both cars, I can honestly say that when I sold my GS for the LS, I was depressed for about a week. My GS had so much soul, whereas the LS felt like a stranger to me. Between the light steering and extra soft handling, I just never really felt "connected" to the LS. The GS on the other hand, had everything I ever really wanted in a luxury sedan - great features, excellent quality of materials (just as good as an LS IMO), and great road feel. The one advantage the LS had though was the seats. They were just more comfortable in my '99 LS vs. my '99 GS. Although, I did like the more "cockpit" feel of the GS seats as well. Both great cars. Test drive them both, but my vote goes to the 98-00 GS.

Yeah I've started looking at the GS400 also. I'm going from a Porsche/Mercedes tuned 325 HP 500E so the GS maybe a better switch.

There just seems to be more LS's out there for sale, not so many GS's and its hard to get all the boxes ticked that I'm looking for like low mileage, southern car, light color, ML stereo etc for my budget.

The search continues and is all part of the fun. I'd be happy with either I think.

'01 LS430> '00 GS400 > '00 LS400. Found some '01-'02's LS's with high mileage for around $18-$20k. Obviously lower mileage examples will cost more.
