Well the reason for it is the silly Euro legislation that makes cars hoods higher. All new redesigned cars will have to pass pedestrian safety guidelines. Its to protect people that get hit by cars and make them less likely to be hurt or worse.

I am so glad that others find this car so beautiful! I honestly think it is one of the most drop-dead gorgeous automobiles on the road today and it always stops me in my tracks when I see it.

Check out the paint scheme on the XK in the lower right hand corner. I wish I could find a better pic of it... I saw this car at a car show and though "wtf?" when I saw it. Then I saw it in black and have loved it since!
