Hummers have great discounts these days. And incredibly high rates of depreciation unfortunately.

That's exactly what I was going to say. an 8mph/s requirement means that every car that can't do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds can't be tested. The Prius does it in 9.8. So they make up whatever numbers they want.

And it doesn't even have to be 4-cylinder AWD to have a problem. Take the IS250 MT--the lightest, fastest variant of this particular 6-cylinder sports sedan. 0-60 time? 7.9 seconds, according to Lexus. So it can't be tested either, and even if it could, the EPA is now assuming that EVERYONE who doesn't own an exotic, mashes the pedal to the floor at every single green light. Lambos and ZR-1s only require 3/4 throttle . Who the **** are they kidding? The EPA is the biggest joke ever.

FWIW, my own experience with a 2nd-gen Prius after having a rental for a week was 51.5mpg, in mixed driving. I suspect I'd get more like 55mpg from a 3rd gen.

Edit: wow, I just totally responded to a 2-year-post.

Fourth, let's put a hummer and a prius each in a 2 mile wide airtight bubble and drive for 20 minutes..... which bubble would you rather be in?

Fifth, is there anyone stupid enough to be led like sheep and believe any of this bullshat?
