Silver and Black are the only colors I would use on a German car - I used to have a black 420SEL and I know people with Silver Arrow and Black Magic Pearl VWs. I'm a fan of pearl whites on Lexus.

Pretty much the same way here in the DC area......one of M-B's largest markets. Silver easily dominates, with black a somewhat distant second. You are correct that people seem to think that is the only way to buy them.

I am too, but if you like that color, don't thank Lexus for it.
Audi, Cadillac, and Infiniti were the ones who actually perfected that color, in the late 80's and early 90's. ( I don't remember which company was actually the first to offer it, but probably not Infiniti. since they weren't in the picture before 1990 ).

interesting that one of the footnotes states that models on the market 4 or more months were excluded. i would have thought that the ls460 being a new model since only 10/20 would fall in that category, but i guess they are counting the ls as a model whether its a 430 or a 460

It is black and silver for MB. Go into any dealer here in the Midwest and that's about all you will find (plus pewter...ewwwww). When I was thinking about getting a GL, I realized that even though MB offers TONS of color combos, if you were to special order something like a GL in red (and you would have to), you would kill your resale.
i have mentioned this numerous times, there is no manufacturing strain for Fit. Fit is very old vehicle that is down in every market. Just for Germany, it is down 60% compared to Jan 2006.

Why Honda refuses to deliver less Fits, than Lexus delivers LS460's, is probably due to different reasons, it is quite possible that Fit costs them too much to produce but that they feel like they have to have it in order to not lose the customers.

But again, they sell such an low number of Fits and Fits are in such low demand in other parts of the world, that it is really hard to argue that they dont have the capacity.

Well it wins every comparo and you can't find them here and everywhere you read in the news it is capacity constrained. Yet you refuse to believe it?

yep... because sales in US are minimal. We are talking about cars that used to sell 5x more in Europe, and whose sales are down 60% in europe.

We are talking about car that gets outsold by LS460.

Are Martians taking taking up allocation?

One thing very glaring, seems cheap Honda's are desirable and make the list, expensive ones and Acura's never do.
Look at how many luxury badged cars are on that list. That is incredible. Even teh FJ has a avg price of $30,000.

That's because the FJ Cruiser, mechanically, is essentially a redone 4Runner, also a $30,000 vehicle. The two are done on the same platform and drivetrain.

ahh, such a brand snob - Lexus doesn't sell many of x and you say they "aren't making them any more" or "they are making as many as they can" - yet it happens to any other brand and the Maritans are buying them...

Well, he does work for Toyota...

Then again, I have stock in Nissan and I don't talk about how amazing Nissan/Infiniti is every chance I get.

BTW, I heard that just like green is the British national color, silver is for Germany. Dunno if that's country-wide or just in the automotive industry, but anyway, wanted to throw that out there. I also don't know if any other countries have an official color.

Didn't know about the national colors...strange that they don't use them on their national flags...

Pretty sure it was Audi. I used to work with a guy who had an S4 in Pearl White that blows away the Pearl on my RX. A bit more of a cream color than a white, and more color change in the light. I remember him telling me that he had to special order it almost a year in advance, and the paint was a $1,250 option because it was some rediculous 17-step process or something.
