According to Wikipedia this was the 3rd gen model, 1982-1990...0.30 Cd impressive...bested in 1989 by the LS 400 with 0.29 Cd and the LS had a built in spoiler effect on the trunk.

Despite being dated, I think the picture shows an Audi 100 design that still manages to look clean and futuristic...

I remember this coming out and all the TV ads they ran emphasising the Cd factor. Aerodynamics were all the rage and Ford was promoting the Sierra which was basically and old model with an aerodynamic bodyshell on it. Then Audi produced this and it just looked years ahead of its time.

 

cd .30 is pretty damned good!

 

Especially for the early-mid 80's.
