Sorry, but neither.

Of course the Charger is out - the interior is 100% plastic.

But for all you guys that recommend the M5, have you driven one? I've driven one really hard - 0-60, 1/4 mile, fast turns, etc. And I have to say, I wasn't impressed. I'd take a GS4 with a couple mods (suspension) and be equally happy.

I'm not a big fan of either one, quality-wise, but there is no denying the great BMW steering feel and driving dynamics.
Still, if it was my money, I'm with pvmike.....I'd take a GS, hands-down, even if it won't quite keep up with the other two. Quality, refinement, a reasonably good chassis......and NO I-Drive.

You're comparing a modded GS (suspension mods) to an M5 and saying that the GS will handle just as well?

Not even an apples to apples comparison.

Not on the list, but the M3 would be the way to go if you don't have family to transport..Equal performance, more tossable, just so damn fun to drive. I would have gotten one myself over a brand new X3, but I need practicality considering NYC winters. Since you broke it down to two choices, then I would pick the M5.

Great choice.

I would pick the M3 instead of the M5. More fun definitely! And it holds its resale value very well too.

So you don't like the GS? Are you looking for an additional car? Or are you replacing the GS?

If the GS is close enough for your tastes, the 40k spent on the M5 would go a LOOOOOOONG way in modding the GS. If you just want something different, a manual, more power and handling from the factory, or any reason to get something other than a GS, then definitely move on.

I would go for the M5 for the simple reason the SRT8 only comes in automatic.
