I stopped rather suddenly on the interstate in Omaha, Nebraska USA for a line of stopped cars (I wish other drivers weren't such dumba**es), and immediately after stopping I see a pair of headlights in my rear view mirror that are uncomfortably close and then WHAM. Hit me with enough force to a) break my seat (backrest just feels very loose now) and b) force my stopped car into the car in front of me (for whatever reason that dumba** fled? are you kidding me?).
After realizing that I'm in no further danger I FLIP *****. Start shaking and taking some aggression out on my steering wheel (I later apologized to him for that hehe). A girl in a dodge (I work with her believe it or not) rearended the Toyota that hit me, which forced her into the right rear end of my MINI.
Well, from what I hear its often cheaper for the insurance company to buy me a brand new one than it will be for them to get it fixed since its just over a year old...
i don't think you going to get a new car from the insurance since the car frame doesn't get bang too bad. I do see you going to get a new hood, front, rear bumper and headlight.
Appears to be pretty minor. You're not getting a new car unless you decide to buy one yourself IMO.
You cannot always gauge underlying frame deformation from just body sheet metal damage, especially on a small unibody car like the Mini, but in this case, I think Ramon is correct. There doesn't appear to be enough damage, superficially, to have caused any frame problems. This car is FAR from totalled.
The good news is that good body shops, today, do work that is virtually unrecognizable from a new car....especially with minor stuff like this.
Of course, some work will be involved painting and replacing the hood and both bumper covers and maybe re-wiring the headlights, but by today's standards this is not that big of a repair job. The longest part of the wait will likely be just waiting for the parts to arrive if they are not in stock in the area.

Humm I dunno, that headlight looks like it went in deep towards the bottom, and knowing how short the overhangs on those cars are, I wouldn't be surprised if the strut tower got some damage=totaled .. Im glad to hear you are fine!! give thanks to ______ for living to another day
