After three weeks of furious online voting and speculation, South Africa's three most personality-injected new car models have been outted in Wheels24's 2006 "Alternative Car of the Year" online poll.

At the finish line, the pert Peugeot 207 was named "gayest" car, the buff Audi RS4 strutted in as "straightest" and the scrumptious derriere of the Alfa Romeo Brera kicked butt for the "rear of the year" title.

The candidates for the three categories were selected from new vehicles launched in 2006. This campaign is to become an annual Wheels24 event.

The Alternative Car of the Year campaign, conducted in partnership with Road Angel Navigator, SA's premier in-car global positioning system (GPS), recorded over 16 000 votes during the period.

The winners of the four Road Angel GPS systems will be named shortly.

How stupid are these polls!!! I have owned a SC400 for 4 years and now own a 2006 Trailblazer SS with 396 horses, Black on Black 20" wheels FAST!!!!! and I also own a IS250 and guess what? I'm GAY????

Though I have to say, I thought there was a stereotype that the A4 is a favorite among gay people? And for sure, there was a story before on how Subaru is the brand of choice for lesbians, and how they really do market themselves that way.

Yeah, I think that list is almost reversed in the US. I used to work in SF with a lot of gay colleagues. I saw so many A4s, Jettas, and Outbacks with the rainbow bumper sticker on it in the parking lot.

And frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the IS250 ended up on the "gay" list too... but whatever... just a poll.

sorry to say, where i live the IS has become more of a girls car. A good portion of the ISx50's i see are driven by middle aged women.
My sister is gay and drives an rangerover sport HSE with 22" HRE's........



the car you drive has nothing to do with being gay or straight, you could say only blacks drive beat down cars with 24's, and mexicans only drive vans with gold fender trim.........

asians only drive civics with fart cans primered out with sniper stickers.........
