Question Poll: How do you typically mod your car?

I am referring to your nicer car... so if you have a nicer Lexus and then a basic econo car for day to day use... answer this in the context of your nicer car only.

I don't typically mod my cars much at all. I prefer the nice stealth/stock look.

Usually I will get a set of snow tires on rims. As such, I get a set of tastful wheels, I may go +1 in size, or may just stick to stock size. I really don't like the looks of huge-*** wheels which make the brakes look tiny.

For my S2000 I have installed shorter FD gears to help it accelerate a bit quicker and a K&N intake for (?) maybe a tiny bit of power as well as a louder sound. Also have a factory hardtop which may or may not be considered a mod.

Here is a pic of my new Legacy with it's new wheels. I may have a sickness b/c I don't mind spending a prety penny on nice wheels, but hopefully I will keep th car a long while also I guess nice wheels will be able to re-sell foe something.

For my car, All I did for exterior was get OEM 17s rims and lowered the car. I wanted to maintain that stock look (blk/blk with chrome wheels) because it looks classy. I dont care much about performance since I rarely utilize anything over 2.5k RPM. Now for handling, I did sway, springs/shocks, bushing, etc because stability is very important for me.

I am waiting until the spring time to mod my Lexus. Chrome Wheels, tint, projector retrofit, chrome lower grille, maybe a lip kit, and whatever else pops into my head. I will leave the engine stock. That is not too much, but enough for this car.
My Honda has been modded over severely and rightly so. But it is very draining of budget and time and patience to go overboard with the ES.

Throughout my life, I have been performance, but my first mods were the exterior and interior (paint, wood panels, debadging), but now I am pure performance with my RX300, a lot of it being custom mods.

My mods are fairly light. I believe I fit all of it in my signature.

Rai, that's a really nice set of wheels!

My car isn't even here yet (Dec 18th), I have the following in my garage:

wheels and tires
rear lip spoiler
painted sidemarkers
custom exhaust

I am waiting on a XEDE (chip), and will be tinting/clear bra'ing the day of... so ya, performance and looks, I'm blowing my load on this one.

Pretty much for all mine:

1. Suspension updates if the change isn't to drastic: springs, struts/shocks, sway bars and bushings.

2. Wheels may be aftermarket or updated stock.

3. Exhaust

4. Window tint

5. Debadging. Every Toyota I have had has registration holes so it's a trip to the body shop. I've been slow in shaving the ones on the LS. Read that as other uses for $350.

My Celica will get a total work-over someday. The damn house keeps sucking the fun money.

I mainly do for performance and smooth driving

IS3
suspension - shocks and spring/ front strut bar sway bars

performance - custom full race exhaust/intake/safc/cam gear/ VB upgrade

my rx330 is totally stock

and my beater car 97 es300 just has a after market CD cause the stock broke

Nice Legacy!!!

I am more about performance than looks and I know I will never have another stock car again! And I hate it for my future wife!

I only buy black cars. I do it all in this order.
1. Tints and HID (if it doesn't have already)
2. Suspension
3. Wheels
4. Brakes
5. Engine mods
I'm not mechanically handy so thats why engine mods are the last mods.

tint, suspension, and rims are the first and must. Everything else will come after. With my A4, my first mod was a chip. Everything else followed but there is nothing that can give a car a new personality like having it dumped on some deep dish multipiece wheels wraped in low pros.
