Default Lexus LX470 Limited Edition.

Found this at roadandtrack.com sorry no pics though.

Lexus says its LX 470 will have a base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $67,395. A Limited Edition option package containing unique exterior and interior features will be priced at $410.

The LX 470 Limited Edition will receive Black Onyx exterior and color-coded scuff plates. Exterior features will include 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a Liquid Graphite finish, and chrome door handles, beltline accent and exhaust tip. Finally, chrome Limited Edition exterior badges will be displayed on the front driver and passenger doors.

On the inside, the LX 470 Limited Editions will come equipped with a Stone leather interior. Features will include a Black Bird's-Eye Maple wood trim, and Black floor mats and a cargo mat, each with a Gray Limited Edition logo.

Only 400 of these special LX 470s will be produced for the entire U.S. market. The LX 470 Limited Edition will make its public debut on December 1 at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show and will reach Lexus dealer showrooms in early December.

These extra-cost limited edition packages make me wonder what exactly it is I'm paying for - do the colors and dyes used cost more when all put together? Or are those just some really expensive badges to make people feel special?

Granted $410 is chicken scratch on an already nearly 70 thousand dollar heavily dated SUV... but some of the other special edition packages really make me wonder how much people are willing to pay for a badge that certifies that their color combo is unique and thus they are better than the non special edition owners.

I'm sure it will still sell no matter how outdated this SUV the built quality is still unmatched by some competition. I would get one if I had the money I love the LX... The LX 470 06 is pretty common here in NY considering gas prices are not that low.

The LC (or LX) hasn't changed much since the early 90's. It's about time =P.

Both are really sweet off-road cars though... Its capabilities are unmatched by many others.

i hate to be the one to bring you down, but if you thought there wasnt much of a change from the 97 to the 98 model, youre really gonna be disappointed in the 07 to 08 model.

Yes the build quality is better than SOME of the competition - not really best in class any more. Neither is the materials quality. And the mechanicals and rest of the stuff underneath is awfully dated these days, even compared to competitors coming in at less than half the price.

If you gave me a choice between any full size SUV made today to receive for free, the LX would certainly be among my top choices. However if I had to pay for it, it's just not worth the premium anymore, to me. I'm sure the redesign for 2008 will help this fact in a major way, though.

Special editions tend to come out late in the model cycle, to add some additional cachet to a vehicle that is not the newest on the lot.

I guess I understand their intentions but I just don't agree with their way of going about it. I see it as kind of gimmicky to more or less change the color configuration, slap a badge on, and charge extra (not to mention you just know the typical salesman is going to try to pretend like you can't negotiate as much/at all on the special edition models and people will fall for it).

The special models I like to see are, for example, how Ford came out with the different special editions of the Mustang and they even had unique motors, hoods, wheels, gauges, and even suspension tweaks. Now THAT is a model worth some form of special badging.

I'm not saying Lexus should go to that much of an extent, but come on, don't they have something modular from their parts bin that they could slap on and make a REAL special edition with some actual small technical additions? I mean even if it's maybe a feature or something from the upcoming model. Like the last year of the 5th-gen Corvette added a special edition model with the magnetic ride control suspension - something that became available on all non-Z06 Vettes the next year when it was redesigned.

LX470, IMHO, is the most beautiful looking SUV on the road today.

To be honest, that looks really sharp and I can totally see some wealthy buyers buying them for the school run or for the night out to the country club.

I just wish it wasn't so heavy or gas-guzzling.

I guess that's what the RX is for lol.

IMO it is still the best looking large SUV out there.

I rather drive the LX than the Escalade, Navigator, GL450, etc.
