Spied: 2008 Subaru WRX hatchback


Spy photographer Chris Doane for Brenda Priddy & Company caught a disguised 2008 Subaru WRX in testing this week in California. Previously, there have been several sightings of possible WRX test mules (in Legacy bodies). These pictures show an actual WRX prototype. The car is expected to take some inspiration from the Subaru B5 concept, though evidently not as much as one might expect. As for power, insiders are anticipating a big update to the 2.5-liter H4 turbo, with an output of around 330-horsepower. Priddy says the Impreza name could change for the 2008 model year.

 

As nice as the WRX specs are, it still doesn't call my attention. Call me spoiled: I want something more than pure sport...

Well it's pretty obvious that on a design standpoint the next gen Evo will look better.

 

I know it's all taped up but it looks too Mazda 3/Matrix(ish) from that rear picture.

 

I think thats a corolla look at the grilland headlights pure camry. Also the wheels look like toyota wheels and the rear bumper is from an IS250. Thats definitely not a WRX.

 

I agree, it looks actually like a Toyota, perhaps the next-gen Matrix?

 

Dunno.. I heard the next Matrix would be swoopier than the current one. Also note that the rear window is inset quite a bit, like the Caliber
