I hope Lexus gets it right with the LF-A, it would be cool to have a V10, but they did a different approach with the LS 600h L where it was a V8 hybrid instead of V12. We'll see how they proceed, I hope they continue to put out world-class efforts.
Everything so far points to the LF-A having a V10, as well as a rumoured hybrid version. Don't know how viable a hybrid supercar is, but we'll see. The Japanese GP and Tokyo Auto Show are coming up soon, so we should be getting some juicy info .
The LF-A (LF-1) will have lots of carbon fiber, right? So it should be light!
A V10 may just add unnecessary cost and complexity.
The LF-A (per the admission of Toyota themselves) is supposed to be a spectacle and showcase of Toyota's entry into F1. We're not talking about a Corolla here; this is a supercar so a V10 engine is hardly "unneccesary". Quite the contrary IMO; I feel that the LF-A (being Toyota's first supercar ever and being the flagship for the entire company) should have a totally unique and exclusive engine, which means something other than a V8.
As a showcase of Toyota's F1 participation, the car is supposed to heavily make use of F1 technology, which means a super-light car utilizing a super-light very high revving engine.
A V10 adds additional uniqueness, prestige, and exclusivity that a V8 engine cannot.

I mean seriously, the engine is the heart of a car. A V8 will just make it another "also-ran". Heck, have any of you heard this motor yet? No V8 (bar a F1 V8) sounds as good as the V10 they are testing right now. It sounds like a demon charging out of the bowels of hell. Anything less than what it is now, and consider me uninterested.

Being the flagship vehicle of the entire company (The LF-A will be above the LS in status) it only makes sense that the car *must* be a showcase of Toyota's F1 participation and a general showcase of Toyota's technological and engineering prowess. Anything less and it won't be taken seriously.
