To me the "Ultimate Driving Machine" fit BMW's older generation cars much better. Cars that enjoyed to be thrown around at high RPMs and corners. Nowadays it does appear that they are trying to gain some "prestige" at the expense of this characteristic of their cars. Sure they are still a blast to drive, but with all the technology and electronics in the car the true "experiance" isn't so much there anymore to me. Hopefully they'll come back to this value and bring the slogan back in the years to come.
BMW has always been labeled as "The Ultimate Driving Machine." It's Marketing Genius. You label one brand as the brand!
Now they're labelled as "A Company of Ideas." You know what: Communism is an idea. Legalizing prostitution is an idea. D. Cheney as a President is an idea.
Sometimes, "A Company of Ideas" may not be a good thing...

I agree....but having Cheney for Prez is not a bad idea at all. Beats just about anything BMW has come up with lately.
A more accurate slogan for today's BMW's would be the Ultimate Computer Machine.

hahhaa, prety well said there. i agree with most that the new slogan completely takes out the brand name, it's too hard to associate it with the brand bmw anymore.....
OK OK, there's a BMW billboard on the 405 Freeway and I don't get it. Someone tell me. It reads:
"Because 2 heads are better than fourteen" or something like that. That's all it says on the whole billboard. No picture of a car or anything, just that one line and the BMW logo.

I've seen that same billboard when I was staying out in the South Bay.

That's as pointless as this:
I'm not sure that billboard is entirely pointless, Ryan....the average Harley rider, with that relatively big engine and straight pipes, makes enough noise to wake up the dead. One probably could NOT hear what they are saying.
