200? Dodge Nitro (caught testing)
Trending Topics
This vehicle is based on its corporate brother, the Jeep Liberty, and shares a common platform and many other features. It is the first Dodge small-to-mid-size SUV ( the larger Durango is actually on the borderline betwen mid and full-size ).
I looked at one last weekend, but did not test-drive it ( the local dealership where I was at with my co-worker buying a new Sonata also sells Dodges ). This vehicle, despite its looks, which is another whole subject-area, in some ways is a piece of junk. Like its Dodge and Jeep cousins Caliber, Compass, and Liberty, it used some of the cheapest-looking and cheapest-feeling trim and hardware materials I have seen in a modern car. Only Ford's new Mustang ( an otherwise great-looking car ) comes close. The fit-and-finish, like on the Mustang, borders on offensive.
Both the Hyundai Tuscon and the new redesigned Santa Fe, which I also looked at there at the dealership, blow the Nitro away on build quality. The doors on the new Santa Fe are like bank vaults.
