Default Toyota Alphard Hybrid Royal Lounge

The Toyota Alphard is the company's premium Japan-market minivan. Available as either a gasoline or hybrid model, the boxy MPV in stock form has a spacious interior that can be reconfigured in several different ways. The automaker's in-house customization firm , Toyota Modellista, has created the Alphard Royal Lounge edition, an executive vehicle best suited for someone who has a driver at his or her disposal.

How else is the occupant supposed to take advantage of the creature comforts available in the Alphard Royal Lounge's swank passenger cabin? Gone are all but two seats, positioned fully aft to offer enormous amounts of legroom and easy ingress/egress via the sliders. The seats are awash in rich leather and feature a power recline function that includes a fold-out ottoman, similar to what you find in upper class train or airline seating. Polished wood trim adds to the warm ambiance.

Reading lamps mounted to the seatbacks arc overhead to illuminate the seating areas, and the ample countertops by the vehicle walls feature cupholders and what appear to be window, seat and/or privacy curtain controls. In the console between the two seats, a pair of tray tables and a video screen fold neatly out of sight.

Immediately behind the front seats, a handsome console is home to the passenger cabin's refirigerator plus additional storage areas suitable for barware or other personal belongings. The driver isn't exactly slumming it up front, either, as the leather and wood treatment finds its way forward as well.

The price? For the Alphard Hybrid Royal Lounge, it's over 7 million yen, which translates to roughly 60,000 US. Not cheap if you look at it as just a minivan. Not bad, however, if you consider the Maybachian interior appointments. it's certainly an interesting alternative to a chauffeur-driven limo or large luxury sedan.

Just an incredibly stunning interior. Very very nicely done as always. But the exterior of these things are so horrible IMO (and competitors as well). I just could never find anything attractive about these vehicles.

translates to roughly ,000 US? lol.

Yeah, and the wood floor (some Honda MPVs have wood flooring too).

Whoever has a Sienna XLE will now know how to pimp their van lol.

The interior is comparable to LS460L, but with even more room...
In fact, Toyota says the interior is copied from Rolls Royce...

this is insane!!!!
but i do know people that will buy these kinds of things
there are a lot of executives that dont want to appear rich on the exterior
but they will need the room and comfort at a reasonable price

This exactly happening in Hong Kong! Most of the famous stars in Hong Kong use these cars as their daily use! These cars provide extra room for them to change their clothes too...
Some richman in Hong Kong also use these cars as these cars don't look rich...

damn! That'll probably translate to nearly $80k. A loaded XLE Limited AWD is ~Cdn$52k.

Well, it's still cheaper than an LS haha

I must say I give much greater priority to interior looks, quality, materials, and design than the average guy, but there's no way in hell I'd pay 60 grand for a rolls royce like interior in what otherwise looks to be hollowed out econobox.

What chassis/suspension/steering is used? What motor/trans/mechanical features does it have? Anything impressive?

Or is it really just a 20k dollar car with a 60k dollar interior?

There's no way the LS is cheaper than this car because LS is powered by a 4.6L V8 with the world's first 8-speed automatic transmission. But this car is powered by a 2.4L L4 with electric motor(same as the Camry hybrid).
