There's two main reasons and some peripheral reasons why I'm getting this car:
1. My 2IS is my only car. 13 cu. ft. of trunk space... doesn't quite cut it when I want to haul stuff.
2. MPG. My combined average for the IS250 AWD is about 21.5 MPG. I commute about 60 miles a day and it adds up fast.
Peripheral reasons:
1. I drive A LOT and I'm putting a LOT of mile on my IS250 AWD. I've only owned it for almost 8 months now and I'm fast approaching 14,000 miles on it.
2. I don't think a Yakima roof rack on top of a 2IS would look good either.
All in all, I just wanted a 2nd "beater" car for when I need to haul stuff and commute daily and keep the miles low on the Lexus. The Fit, Yaris and Versa all looked interested. Even took a test-drive in the Fit (5AT w/paddles) and it's fun to drive. However, all the Honda dealers in my area (Seattle) have a "market adj. value" markup close to $5K over MSRP. To give you an idea how bad that is, if I added another $3K to what they were asking for the Fit, I could of bought a base Toyota Camry Hybrid. I thought about buying a used wagon or such but the only thing that's going to get close to the mileage rating on the Versa with that much cargo space would of been like a VW diesel wagon.

If you think you need a second beater car, go for it

Did u sit down and really do the math. Cost of new car+ insurance+ maintenance- gas savings.
Are you going to keep the IS? If you do, just drive the snot outta it since resale won't matter.
The IS already gets tops or tied with BMW tops fuel economy in class.
If your going to get a beater, get a BEATER, not a new car. Get like an old Nissan Sentra or something like that.
I think u just want another car

Just out of curiosity, how much are they going for? I too have some interest in one, albeit a manual. But I just curious on the pricing as I have not yet gone to price them out myself.
