Can't believe it 4
Over the past 3 weeks, I've posted 3 other can't believe threads in the 3GS section. Those were stories about my wife and her behavior over our new 3GS, they way she babies it. Well, it's about me now.
Tonight I brought home a 2006 G35. It's only a 1 year lease but that's all I wanted since there will be a new style next year. If the new style looks way better, I can move right into it. If it doesn't, the IS Coupe should be out by then and I'll be ready. My down payment was 2600, after tax, tag, aquisition, etc. it came to 4K down and 376 a month. Don't know about you guys but I think that was a decent deal. Of course I'm not an expert on leases since this is my first. Sounds pretty good to me. On to the car.
At first I almost returned the car because I thought it felt so cheap. All that plastic interior crap is so repulsive. Infinit should be ashamed for this cheap interior. The seats feel adequate, leather seems fine but they really hug you. Wasn't accustomed to that. Then I stepped on the gas pedal and hit some curves. I fell in love. My wife was behind me and was taken by surprise. Infiniti put the money in the engine, where it matters most. The exhaust sounds sooo sweet. I think I'll keep it. Slap some wheels and a front lip on it and call it a day.
I can't believe I did it.

Congragulations. I assume that since you live in FL you got the RWD model rather than the AWD G35X....although AWD helps out in rain too.
The G35 is indeed a driver's car.....its whole conception was aimed primarily at the BMW 3-series, and it actually outperforms the non-M 3-series in some areas ( Nothing, of course, can equal the BMW steering systems for road feel ).
The interior on the first ones WAS junk, except for the unique articulating air vents and the gauges that tilt up and down with the wheel. However, the last 2 years have brought some improvements....but Infiniti paint, IMO, still has a way to go to get back to where it once was.
The lease figures don't look bad considering the G35's average sticker price and the fact that is only a one-year lease and that the average new car depreciates most in its first year.
Since it is a lease and you will be required to keep it in tip-top shape, I recommend SCRATCH-OUT to get out surface paint scratches and blemishes...it will help keep the car looking like new.
PM me if you need the break-in rules. If not.......enjoy !

Thanks mmarshall. I would like to know more about breaking it in.....although I am sitting here contemplating taking it back.
I got up this morning and the first thought was, why did I buy a car I don't need when the money could be better spent. Why did I buy a car that doesn't look as good as the SC. Not as comfortable as the SC. Not as quality as the SC. The SC is great and it's paid for.
I took out the G35 to try bonding with it.....giving it a good look in the daylight. For some reason it doesn't look nearly as good as when seeing them go by. Up close it's sort of plain. I don't feel the sexiness I feel with the SC.
I disliked the 3GS so much I thought I could never own one. After letting my wife talk me into it my feelings started to change. I still don't like the headlights of the 3GS but on the second day, I could feel myself bonding. I could feel the sexiness. Just like the SC. I'm not feeling the G35.
I'm going to sit here the next couple of hours and make a decision.

Congrats Reggie for the new G, but you are thinking of returning it already ? Didn't you examine the interior carefully before you made your decision to lease it ? The 06 interior is already better than the previous years, but you can't compare it with a Lexus, it's not just the materials, but they're not nearly as well put together than Lexus cars. You just try to enjoy other aspects of the car in which they are good at, like the perfomance, handling & the exhaust note.
Okay guys, I said I'd take a few hours to think about it. I was gonna take it back. I got halfway there and decided to keep it. The performance is the main reason. The car had some white pinstripes on it...I took them off and the car looked better instantly. Then I rode by lots of glass buidings to see my reflection and I was pleased. Bottom line, I'll keep it. I know you guys have seen plenty of stock G35's but I'll post a couple pics anyway. Thanks for listening to my rambling. Buying a car is an emotional thing....especially when you don't need one.

Couple pics of both new cars.
As each day passes I like the 3GS more and more. It is a spectacular car. What in heck will the new LS be like....I can only imagine.

, congrats again Wish I could have gotten the SC430. The legroom was just too short. The G35 is narrow but has plenty of legroom. That's the most important to me. The G35 is looking better everytime I see it, after I took that white pinstripe off it. That thing ruined the looks. Anyone know what the 0-60 time is for the G35? I catch myself speeding without knowing it. The car is faster than I thought. Love it.
My wife, who is very persuasive, is trying to talk me into putting black wheels on the G35. I wasn't even close to listening but your car looks darn good. Time to think on it.
