That might be the most impractical "look at me" car you could buy. Speed you can't use. Little cargo space. Useless rear seats. And still a HUGE and expensive vehicle.

The only converibles I really like are 2 seaters, and they're much more fun.

not sure how i would interpret that.... i mean, in that case, all 911 are junk?!

the rear seats on the 6 series are small but not really something like sc430 where it's unbearable

yeah i know gene, we talked about this before.

point 1 might make sense (i know what it's like), but personally i don't take point 2 that seriously. i just don't see having a m specific color should be a reason for me to pick the car. just like the ls600hl. i want the car bad, but i don't think i am going to choose the special color

Haha. 911 converibles don't have rear seats first off.

500HP in a convertible in the M6 useful? Yes you can get a 911 turbo convertible - I've driven one, but convertibles don't need to be driven that fast to feel fast, plus I think they're a lot more fun just cruising in them. So a REALLY fast convertible just doesn't make sense to me.

I just dislike that M6 convertible because it's so huge for so little usable space with an engine that will never get used to its potential. Would you take a convertible to the track?

The car is purely ugly at every angle to me. That color though is lovely I've always like that color but never new the name of it, thanks genearch. I thought I was going to have to see the infiniti dealer to find out (see FX35/45) that is one of the only cars I see with that color oh and the 05' LS I believe.

Details Emerge on 500 Horse BMW M6 Convertible

Date posted: 10-10-2006

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. — BMW said its highly anticipated, 500-horsepower 2007 M6 convertible will arrive in the United States this fall with a sticker price of $105,095, including shipping charges.

The price includes an exclusive one-day M driver training course at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The 2+2 M6 is powered by a 5.0-liter V10 engine with a redline in excess of 8000 rpm. The V10 is linked to a standard seven-speed sequential M gearbox with Drivelogic, which provides six shift modes for manual and five for the automatic mode. BMW said the M6 convertible goes from zero to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

Because the driver may not need all of the power of the V10 in all situations, the M6 convertible has a P400 setting that is automatically activated when the engine is first started and offers 400 hp. To call up the full 500 horses, the driver punches the power button. A P500 sport mode is also available for what BMW describes as "more dynamic response."

The soft top on the M6 convertible is made up of three layers and can be raised or lowered while the car is traveling up to 20 mph. The top can be ordered in black or gray. The cabin features include an optional head-up display that offers the choice of a special M display that includes road speed, transmission gear and an engine speed graphic.

The interior can be accessorized with optional carbon-fiber trim and full leather. Special M exterior colors include Indianapolis red and Sepang bronze.

What this means to you: It costs as much as a small house. But it's a lot faster than a house.
