Default Unlock = blind & confused

Little bit of a GM rant here, it's about unlocking with the remote. When you unlock a GM with the remote, the brights and reverse lights turn on. Why?!?!?! This is SO stupid What's wrong with the puddle lamps (if equipped) and hell even the LOW beams?

I saw a Tahoe backing out in front of me, so of course I slam on the brakes and honk the horn. Well, turns out all that happened was the back end was sticking out from the parking space a little bit, and the guy just stared at me as he walked up to his Tahoe that he just unlocked.

Additionally, from the front, the brights turn on. I'll never understand this. Fog lights, maybe? Again, even the low beams would suffice. Or why not the DRL's? So if there's a GM parked with nothing in front of it facing you, and the owner unlocks it, you're getting blinded.

Sorry, just aggravated as I probably took 1,000 miles of life off of my tires and brakes on that one

For some reason, I find this to be very comical...

I think that reverse light is VERY stupid of an idea (if you can call it that) and the DOT should get involved in this one.

lol... sorry... lol How fast were you going btw that you took 1000 miles off the life of your brakes and tires? I bet the owner got a little chuckle out of that one.

I've also seen a couple GM vehicles exhibit that, at first glance it does look like they are backing up. But I have also noticed GM vehicles that are being started by a remote (most around here are AstroStart brand) and those will sit there running with the backups on. My Ford Sportrac will flash it's tail lightes and parking lightes when remote opening and when I use the remote starter the parking lightes and tail ligths come on and stay on, also my fog lights because I have them switched on all the time. You would think GM would do something similar to that. It really doesn't matter if you were driving thru a parking lot at 10 or 20 mph, if someone would have been following you fairly close they could have rearended you. To me it just another case of engineering not thinking thru on some of their designs.

I'm sure he did too, and yeah I'll admit it is pretty funny. If it happened to soemone else, I'll confess I'd point and laugh in my head "what a jackass"

I was being a bit (just a bit ) facetious with the 1,000 miles. I was going <10 mph so I didn't even hear any rubber dragging, but I'm just annoyed that it's yet another non-astonishingly poor design by GM
