Anybody have any experience with the 1996-2002 (previous generation) E55? They seem to be going for very reasonable prices. Are they prone to trouble? I'm sort of surprised the market is so soft for these cars. Whats the catch?

A friend of a friend picked one up about 9 months ago for something like $28K. Replaced a couple of trim pieces and the tires. Car has been perfect and is a blast to drive.

 

a freind has one with 140k kilometers on the clock and still runs like a champ, those older 55 engines are bullit proof, and if u keep them maintaned they will run for a while.

 

My moms best friend's son just traded his in for a CL500. As far as I know he never had a problem. Had over 100K miles and was running pretty stong. That was a really good looking car.

 

A friend has an '02 E55. Been flawless since he bought it brand new. Only been to the stealer 4 times. At almost 100k miles and still running strong. You can tell by the mileage that he likes to drive it a lot.
