Default Bubble Lights

How about a history lesson? I have read that the 1991 Soarer/SC400 was the first US car to use any bubble lights (the high beam housing), after which Acura adopted them in the Integra, Honda Civic Del Sol, Mercedes Benz E-Class, 2GS, etc. are using the bubble lights.

My question is, I hear that JDM Integras were using the bubble lights BEFORE the Soarer, and that the switch to use the bubble lights in USDM Integras came after the SC debuted....does anyone actually know the specifics? I was talking about this with my friend who is an Integra owner, and we can't seem to find any resolution.

I actually think the 2GS was referred to as the "Bubble eye"Lexus.

The lights on the SC were not made for style. Rather, when designers made the headlights out of the clay model, they didn't have space for high beams.

Thus, the seperate beam was born.

Now cars have had quad headlamps since the beginning. But Lexus may have been the first to totally intergrate it into the body. They don't look tacked or added or screwed on.
