All of the up numbers posted by some are equalled by down numbers elsewhere in the automotive industry - overall the same 16 mil vehicles will be sold - it's just a matter of different makers getting different parts of the pie.
I wouldn't have thought the RL would drop off that much - even the A6 is doing better now. I also didn't expect the M to outdo the GS, heck at this pace it might catch the E-class. I wonder if Infiniti will come up with an M37 to counter the GS350.

LexArazzo thank you so much for all the information provided again
Wow, to think Lexus has all these coming
GS 450h
ES 350
RX 350 (sold now)
LS 460
Their management is on point. There is always a reason to go into the showroom. Always something fresh.

The RX 400h luxury hybrid SUV reported March sales of 2,470 units.
They sold more RX HYBRIDS than the revamped FX. That is crazy.
BMW 5, wow, what can you say.
Acura TL, holding its own VERY, VERY well considering its age.
IS series, 5k this month, much more of this to come, I see 7k being hit in the summer. WAY over target. 5k a month is 60k a year, they estimated 45k. 15k MORE wanted.
I saw a Cayman the other day. Looks GREAT in person and nothing like a 911. They will sell tons of these.
Benz R-class, I am seeing these on the road. Apparently, people did want that van status symbol. Good move Mercedes.

General Motors posted a 14.4% sales decrease in U.S. auto sales in March compared with the same month last year, while the industry overall saw a slight 2.9% decline, Autodata reported Monday.
Ford was down 4.7%, and DaimlerChrysler was up 2.9% for the month.
Among Japanese makers, Toyota was up, Honda was flat, and Nissan was down slightly.
Following the pattern of recent months, sales of most big SUVs remained flat while buyers move to crossover models.
But there were a few surprises. Toyota's hot Prius gas-electric hybrid car showed a 22% sales drop. Spokesman Bill Kwong says the decrease is due in large part to less production to make room on the line for the new Camry hybrid. The Prius is still in short supply, he added.
GM's poor sales performance approaches the hangover the automaker saw last year after its big summer discount program. September and October sales were off more than 20% compared with the same months in 2004.
The bulk of GM's March sales decline was in cars, about 22%, compared with nearly 10% for trucks. While sales to rental car fleets — a low-profit dumping ground for manufacturers trying to unload bloated inventory — were down, GM also took some of the hit in the showroom. Retail sales were down 17% for the month.
The company said comparisons were skewed by a strong sales performance in March 2005, when lots of incentives were available.
GM "is not where we want to be, but we knew it would be a challenging start to the year," GM market analyst Paul Ballew said in a conference call.
GM has focused on pricing that is closer to sticker and less reliant on incentives. In March, GM showed an uptick in the average sales transaction price per vehicle of about $1,600 compared with a year ago, Ballew said. Bucking the industry SUV downturn, sales remained robust for GM's revamped full-size sport utilities, Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade.
Burnham Securities analyst David Healy expects GM's sales to improve later this year as it starts selling more versions of its full-size SUVs and when it makes over more of its pickup line.
At Ford, the sales drop amounted "to progress toward stabilizing our market share," said sales analyst George Pipas. The company saw big growth in its midsize sedans: Ford Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr and Mercury Milan. Pipas said Zephyr was the biggest surprise.
He said Ford's market share loss is slowing, running at about a half percentage point during the first quarter, compared with 1 percentage point last year.

Actually, the car has gotten decent reviews and if I was in the market for this type of car, I would pick up a year old one. The thought of having one of only a few on the road would be ok in my book.Originally Posted by marshmallo

Nothing hurts your brand more not just from a public view, but INSIDE the company, than a flagship that sucks. Nothing is worse.
why?
Because the BEST PEOPLE IN THE COMPANY are working on the flagship and its to provide a halo that glows onto the cheaper cars. Its to show the companies TOP technology.
WHen your flagship fails, its a GIANT SKID MARK on the company.

Great thread guys - excellent detective and formatting work!
Couple of observations:
- MB S class sales - holy cow that thing is selling REALLY well!
- BMW 3 series - 10K a month - impressive!
- Acura RL - Honda/Acura must be very disappointed - they HAVE to do something, although I can't think what since a replacement model can't be anywhere near
- Most makers are doing OK except Chrysler/Dodge which seemed really weak (I didn't look at GM numbers but I expect they're bad too)
- Ford finally has a CAR hit on their hands with the Fusion. My local (HUGE) dealer says they can't keep them in stock. Autoweek's reviewers were very impressed particularly with (shock) the HANDLING, saying it can go through the slalom faster than an MB C55! At $8/share, I'm very tempted to buy the stock! But it takes a lot more than 1 model.
- Lexus sales are great overall, but the GS sales seem weak. Maybe the buying public of vehicles like it know the GS350 and 450h are coming? Plus as someone said Lexus is probably keeping inventory very low and that often turns away customers who can't get a color or option combination they want off the lot rather than ordering it.
- Toyota had better get that extra Camry capacity ramped quick - I think it's going to FLY out of showrooms for the next few years.
