This limited production car should have continued development.

How many were produced and what is the story behind it?

From: Gateway to the West-

^ BMW M1... designed by lambo and some othe company.... i forget the rest, but it has a pretty much non-bmw history (they just badged it)... mainly developed for racing (if i'm not mistaken).

i dont have any more pix at the moment, so someone else can post one.

we had at least 3 or 4 one-offs/ prototype cars. if all we used were profuction cars then it would be WAY too easy.

correct! The BMW M1 was a special limited production run vehicle with a rear engine configuration. The production run was limited to about 450 vehicles solely to allow it to participate in various racing events. While it was never a top contender, it is a very unique vehicle for BMW.

Much of the design was commissioned to the famous Italian design houses, but it was still a BMW, and definitely an "M"
