Here's an idea:

Drop the SC430 when the LF-A comes out. (Hold on, just listen for a second)

Make a GS convertible, a real 4 seater kinda like the CLK or BMW 6.

Introduce the IS convertible.

This will give Lexus an entry level convertible(with 2 engines), a premium convertible(with 2 engines), and an elite supercar at the top.

Does this make sense to anyone else?
Um, no. The SC was around before the GS, which was originally a [sort of] flop for Lexus anyway.

Lexus doesn't need an 'entry level' car. That's what Toyota is for. What's with people trying to make cheaper and cheaper cars with a name brand badge on the front? You're not fooling anybody; we all know how cheap your base model 'luxury' car was.

Cadillac Catera, Acura Integra, Benz C-Clas hatch, Infiniti G20, BMW 1 series, Jag X-type, etc... Just because someone buys one of these cars doesn't mean they drive a nice car. If you want a real, true luxury brand car, just buy a used one. Let the lower end companies sell the lower end cars.

The SC is one of the original Lexus cars. That'd be like BMW dropping the 5 series.

Lexus will have to come out with a coupe that is on par with the new Jag XJ, BMW 6 series and Merc line of coupes.

i completely agree on that point. i still have absolutely NO idea why the 6 is a soft top..... man..... hard top, damnit....

No hater here. SC is a great car, just a lot of comprimises. Heavy but sporty, body roll but firm ride, short wheelbase but large turning radius. Still, a beautiful, elegant design.

You're right, it's not about availability, it's about production, price, and reliability. Also, I can't imagine spending 80K on a SOFT TOP.

Because it cost close to 55K with no options and an in-line 6. Lexus priced it way out of line.

All I said was entry level CONVERTIBLE. If you don't like the IS, that's your problem, but a 2-door and Convertible versions would be no comprimise, and great sellers too.

Let the lower end companies sell the lower end cars. .
Catera is an Opel platform. Integra is a Civic platform. C-Class is weak and cheap. G20 is Sentra platform. 1-series is closest to the real old-school BMW without all the crazy electronics. X-type is Contour platform.

What would the IS convertible be based on? No Toyotas. IS sedan. Again, if you got an issue with the IS that's your problem.

The SC is one of the original Lexus cars. That'd be like BMW dropping the 5 series.
Fair enouph. I like the SC, but Lexus NEEDS to compete with the 3-series and SLK without the 67K price tag.

btw, 1GS was about 45k loaded, not 55k.

Lexus does not HAVE to compete with SLK, its low volume and not exactly an image creator.

The SC is a Lexus pride and joy, no way its going to get dropped. It is a huge seller for them consiering its a limited prodcution model. And it helped its image, it was used in many music videos and he rich and famous drive it.

Not every car has to be some sports car. the SC EXCELS in being a GT.

Not to mention, its the most reliable car EVER TESTED!
