Default Jaguar XKR Spy Shot

Jaguar XKR Cabrio and Coupe Spy Photos

While Jaguar has launched its new Jaguar XK Coupe at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, here is more to come.

These are first photos of the sports version XKR of this model range, showing a prototype as convertible in current cold weather testing. The car can be recognized by an altered front end with big air intakes, air intakes in the hood and four big exhaust pipes at the rear end. It is furthermore featuring extended wheel arches and a boot spoiler. Quite visible is also the big power bulge on the hood.

This car is set to become a competitor against the BMW M6 and Mercedes SL 55 AMG and is powered by a supercharged 4,2 ltre V8 engine delivering 400 HP.

The new XKR has an aluminium chassis and is about 90 kilos lighter than the current model. Both, the coupe and convertible are expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show this fall and to be in the showrooms in 2007.

I think it looks real nice. But I just realized how insane it is to call 400hp underpowered in this class. The SL and M6 both have 500hp or around 500hp. This is down a whole 100hp. Thats just crazy.

Not bad, always prefer the XKR over the XK8, in both performance & looks . Still prefer the style of the previous generation though . . .

Now that is how a coupe should look. Nice. But 300hp and 400hp ain't going to cut it with HP concious buyers, even as the jag is lighter than ever.

I actually participated in a Jaguar automotive clinic this weekend. I did not see this model in their newest lineup but I can say that they have a sedan coming out that will replace the "S Type" that is sick!

Sporty, Elegant, Luxurious. The exhausts on the car were phenomenal. It will come out to compete with the GS, 5, E350. All I can say is when it comes out it will be exciting!

Absolutely loving it!!!!

The restyled nose and front fascia are x1000!!!

But as everyone else has said, it need a minimum of 75 more HP. In it's highest output trim it still makes less than a base model Corvette!!!!
