I saw the Superbowl (Snoozerbowl actually) and the new Camry looks like the IS350, same platform? The rear lights looked the same.

 

Just some family resemblance to be expected in most brands, this has been discussed in several threads already, & they have different platforms, FWD platform on the Camry, RWD in the IS350.

 

but new camry is soooo boooooring, so they say :-).

 

This thread feared the s* brick outta me so this thread should be closed. As purple rock pointed out, yes there are family resemblance so don't scuur us like that again superbowl commercial.

ps: isn't it ironic that superbowl commericals cost so much but it further raised questions such as this one? puuuuu-ha.

 

hahhaa, 5 yrs ago when the is300 came out they said it's the glorified version of the corolla. i guess it's at least an improvement that it's the same as camry now

just kidding. no, totally different, you can almost say there is nothing in common. the is350 is rwd, and the camry is fwd. that means a lot already

 

p.s. if people question themselves if camry is derived from lexus, it means superbowl ads paid off :-).

 

I feel the new Camry has more of a resemblance to the new Avalon than the IS. The camry has always shared the same platform as the ES, not the IS. There are no RWD Toyotas AFAIK.

 

Not even closely related. We have an IS forum with all the info u need proving this.
