Default Volvo C30 Concept and Evolve XC90 V8

Los Angeles, California (January 4, 2006) - “We know there are large numbers of fairly young, successful people who are attracted by our brand, but who still cannot find a model in our range that exactly matches their taste and lifestyle. The Volvo C30 Design Concept was developed precisely for this group,” said Fredrik Arp, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

From its inception, the Volvo C30 Project was focused on one primary demographic group: Young urbanites with accelerating careers and intensive, active lifestyles. Customer clinics allowed these people to voice their opinions and give their views on the car’s design and technical content.

For an active lifestyle, wherever you live
Volvo focused primarily on singles and on couples without children, who regard the car as a tool for pursuing their hectic lifestyles. When they buy clothes, decorate their homes or purchase home electronics, design and brand name are particularly important factors – and they choose their cars according to the same criteria.

“These customers move in a fast paced world between their homes, work, meetings, the gym and their favorite restaurants and nightclubs in town. Many of them describe their ideal mode of transport as nimble car designed to get them where they want to go. They focus on attractive design and entertaining driving properties and rarely have more than two people in the car,” explains Håkan Abrahamsson, C30 Project Director.

Design inspiration from the SCC
An athletic, sporty design with two doors, four individual seats and lines inspired by the Volvo Safety Concept Car, makes the forthcoming production model a keen contender in a segment where competition for customers is razor-sharp.

“The Safety Concept Car (SCC) heralded a bold design language for Volvo. Its roots could be found in the classic proportions of the P1800 ES, but there was no denying that it was also a Volvo of the future. As it turned out, the SCC is an excellent reflection of our ambition for the C30 project,” said Håkan Abrahamsson.

Unveiling in Paris in 2006
The Volvo C30 Design Concept, which will be unveiled at the Detroit motor show, offers a taste of what’s to come in the forthcoming production model. The wraps will come off the all-new Volvo C30 at the Paris motor show in September 2006, and the car will be successively introduced throughout the world starting at the end of the year. The car is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in the summer of 2007.

“The all-new Volvo C30 plays an important role in the hunt for sales growth to 600,000 cars a year. It is vital that we broaden our model range so that customers with an active urban lifestyle can choose a Volvo with the right appeal as early as possible,” commented Arp.

Los Angeles, California (January 4, 2006) – Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA) and aftermarket Volvo specialists, EVOLVE, have teamed up once again to unveil an SUV specifically designed to appeal to the car-crazy Southern California marketplace. The Volvo XC90, owned by film director Brett Ratner, has been significantly redesigned with a number of visual and performance enhancements.

The ultra-black XC90 isn't the first project VCNA and EVOLVE have partnered on. The relationship began in 2003 at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas when two EVOLVE-equipped Volvo S60 R high-performance sedans and a V70 R high-performance wagon were unveiled. The following year's show heralded the awe-inspiring EVOLVE S40 with over 400 horsepower, race-inspired suspension and full-time all-wheel drive.

"This XC90 is something we've wanted to build for a long time," commented Don Nicholson, President and CEO of EVOLVE. "This has been an exciting exercise in creating an elegant, high-end vehicle that will really appeal to the upscale market. This XC90 is the best of both worlds, balancing stunning looks with awesome driving characteristics. "

Bathed in high-gloss black paint with matte-black accents, the EVOLVE XC90 V8 rides on a lowered sports suspension that is highlighted by high-performance three-piece 22x9.5 EVOLVE “E7” forged wheels. Low profile Pirelli Scorpion Asimmetrico 295/30ZR-22 tires fill the flared wheel wells and shroud the massive EVOLVE Brake Kit featuring 15-inch slotted front rotors clamped by eight-piston calipers and 13-inch rears with four-piston calipers. The fully custom body kit includes front and rear fascias, rocker panels, fender flares and signature EVOLVE grilles which all compliment this XC90’s stealthy appearance. Increased nighttime visibility is created by PIAA light bulb replacements and auxiliary lighting. A bit of extra V8 rumble and increased power is created by the EVOLVE Exhaust System.

Inside, the EVOLVE XC90 is as stylish and eye-catching as the exterior. A complete EVOLVE interior package incorporates two-tone gray and black seating surfaces with contrasting stitching. A matching EVOLVE steering wheel, EVOLVE pedals, and custom painted gloss black and bright-silver interior highlights add some drama to the interior. The already outstanding Volvo in car entertainment system features Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and a Rear Seat Entertainment system with twin flat-screen LCD monitors mounted to backs of the front-seat headrests.

As with every other customized Volvo, the EVOLVE XC90 V8's safety features are all fully functioning. When the Volvo XC90 was introduced in 2002 it was the first SUV on the market with Roll Stability Control (RSC) and side curtain airbags for all three rows of seats.

Currently, the EVOLVE XC90 V8 is only a concept. There are no plans to offer the vehicle through the Volvo retailer network, but potential customers should contact EVOLVE if they are interested in modifying their personal vehicle.

EVOLVE is an aftermarket company dedicated to bringing the best performance and styling products to market for late model Volvo owners.
