I never understood this - since it is harder and more time consuming to back in.

I always try to back in at school and wherever else I am... especially if I'm forced to park in between two cars and not at the back of the lot away from everyone. If I'm somewhere like a store where I'm just going to be gone under 5 minutes, or if i'm somewhere I can see my car at all times, I will occasionally leave the car in the front of the store with the 4-ways on. As illegal as that is, I still think thats safer than parking in a crowded parking lot. Nobodys ever really said anything, except the manager of a store that told me "nice car"

Can the rule that you can't back in have something to do with towing in a private lot? Maybe the lot owner is under the impression that most cars are RWD. (I heard most towing companies won't touch a car if they can't get it from the correct side?)

Hmm...back-up/reverse lights to indicate to on coming motorists that vehicle is intending to enter the lane. Enough people drive throuh lots with reckless abandon and while it can happen in any direction, the driver can clearly state, "I didn't know the driver's intention/see the car coming". With DRL's it is some warning. Obviously nosing the car out should be enough of an indicator but the inattentivness of drivers, they need all the signs necessary.

As for towing...don't matter. They'll can pull it out then switch to the non-brake wheels.

It's probably so they can check for expired tags or look for stolen cars. They do that here in Ybor City. It's not an ordinance saying that you can't park face out, but when you park to go to the clubs in the parking structures you better make sure that your registration is up to snuff. They WILL give you a ticket for it.

And as for me, I usually park butt out as its quicker to jump in and out. But If there is an opportunity, I will park face out.

I noticed that in 10 years, only people with "nice:" cars or modded cars used to do this. IT was rare to see anyone else park face out.

Today, between marketing and all the knock-off cars and everyone thinks their car is special, face-out is the new way to park.

I sit sometimes and just obseve how some people break their necks to park face out, b/c the guy in the Benz/BMW/Lexus did at the end or beginning of the row.

Then you see 50 Altimas doing the same thing, parking face out.

I only do it if I can just drive through the first space and go the the one in front. Otherwise, I just park butt out.

I do think when I had my GS, i parked face out more.

Cause ITS A BEAUTIFUL FACE!!!
